Nothing like a well-packed Berthoud bag.
Mini-laptop, hardback book and cycling clothes for the longer ride home.
On the train now a little early haven’t travelled this way around in ages. It’ll beat the wind though and I didn’t need to get up so early.
Now to read a little of Ness, by Robert Macfarlane. Introduced to his work by the beautiful record by Hayden Thorpe which was inspired by his reading of it and the obsession with Orford Ness that followed. I sense I may have to ride over there.

Fascinating. I admit to not having read "The Living Mountain" and indeed not knowing Nan Shepherd, the writer. This powerful essay by Robert Macfarlane has shown me that this was an inexcusable omission. I will read all of Shepherd's novels, and I must read The Living Mountain.

Enjoying my first listen to the #JohnnyFlynn / #RobertMacfarlane albums Lost in the Cedar Wood & The Moon Also Rises. Enjoyed Macfarlane's books so was interested to check them out. Folkie stuff with a bit of a pagan element perhaps - and of course nature themes, as might be expected with Macfarlane's involvement. Fine stuff!
