  2. Two #bluebells growing next to each other in #hampsteadheath in London. First is the native English bluebell (Hyacinthoides non-scripta), which has a lovely scent and a deeper bluey-purple colour with petals that curl up. The stem tends to sag as it flowers on one side and the leaves (not shown) are thinner. The other is the introduced and invasive Spanish bluebell (Hyacinthoides hispanica). Its flowers are paler (sometimes pink), stem upright with flowers all round it, and the petals don't curl up as much. The leaves, not shown, are also broader. Then of course there are hybrids and cultivars, just to make things a bit more complicated! And both are beautiful signs of Spring :))) #wildflowers #plants #urbanwildlife

  3. Wild garlic, English bluebells, a naturalised yellow tulip and Cuckoo-pint in Graves Park, Sheffield. Will try to get some photos of the parakeets here at some point. #Sheffield #GravesPark #WildGarlic #Bluebells #CuckooPint #Tulips

  4. Today I walked a round trip of 13km: up Shotover hill, down into Wheatley for a coffee, up past Wheatley windmill and down into Horspath. I peeked though the windows of the primary school that I last attended a third of a dang century ago, and went back up and over Shotover country park. It was a fantastic hike, made even better by the wood absolutely bursting with bluebells!
