  1. It’s the weekend again and I’ve been to the charity shops to find some more books. My haul this time includes "The Three-Body Problem" by Cixin Liu, "Flow My Tears, the Policeman Said" by Philip K. Dick, "12 Years a Slave" by Solomon Northup, “Sexing The Cherry” by Jeanette Winterson and “Last Human” by Doug Naylor. Not bad for a tenner.

  2. To my niece, and sister,

This book, "12 Bytes," is by one of my favorite authors, Jeanette Winterson.

This book tells us where we come from.
And possibly where we are going.

Her writing is, well, specific. Listen in
full every word, phrase, sentence, and
paragraph. (OK, you can skip the sex dolls article. It is disgusting.)

Jeanette Winterson's sources are well researched and accurate.

Why can't a fiction writer expound on the history, great and flawed, and movement of computing. I, myself, lived through and survived, with bruises, from 1979 through 2018 to today. I think it takes the mind of a fiction writer to comprehend the competing messages.

I also recommend that you read Mary Shelley's "Frankenstein" to absorb references to Mary Shelley, if you haven't already. "Frankenstein" is particularly pertinent to perspectives on AI themes.

  3. When you buy a book because of its remote connection to Frankenstein, and realize it might turn out transphobic 😕🥺

  5. Finished #reading the fascinating #novella #TheDaylighGate, #author #JeanetteWinterson's retelling of the #PendleWitchTrials of 1612 in England, when 12 men + women were charged with the murders of 10 people by the use of #witchcraft. Winterson reimagines this world adding passion + magic to the sad + tragic events of that time.

Statue is #AliceNutter, the central character in Winterson's story

  6. Mis lecturas de enero 2025:
    · Todo lo que necesito existe ya en mí de #RupiKaur
    · El fin del amor de #TamaraTenembaum
    · Frankisssten: una historia de amor de #JeanetteWinterson

  7. This short epic once again confirmed that historical fiction, bigger half being “fiction” and the smaller half “historical”, is my favourite genre. Add a pinch of magical realism and I am hooked.

Such beautiful storytelling, like 1001 Nights set in Europe.

  8. Someone across me on the overground is reading Jeanette Winterson’s “Oranges Are Not The Only Fruit”. I naively get filled with hope for the future whenever I see someone reading a great book.

  10. Good morning!

"I know now, after fifty years, that the finding/losing, forgetting/remembering, leaving/returning, never stops.

The whole of life is about another chance, and while we are alive, till the very end, there is always another chance."

  11. #JeanetteWinterson wrote "Written On The Body" in 1992
In that novel, the person who narrates it is a seducer of married women who is possibly another woman.
I already told u that #JeanetteWinterson fell in love with #JulianBarnes' wife and with others.
There is something in that story that iundoes us men, thinking that our #Wife can feel attracted to another woman, abandon us and live a full life with her.
But isn't it true that in #postmodernism there is no absolute #Truth?

  12. I dunno if u ever have wanted to write about #Love
Carnal #Love,I mean:that desire to be next to one person A friend of mine once told me that it also exists in case of wanting to be with three people at same time but I'm a little more introverted and I settle for only one each time.
Situations and language at every level: lexicon, syntax, it is exploited #AdNauseam It's difficult to achieve originality
In a previous toot I wrote'bout postmodern English literature and about #JeanetteWinterson

  13. #JulianBarnes could have existed and I would have got no idea of his but for one thing.
#PatKavanagh, his wife and literary agent, left him and had an affair with #JeanetteWinterson,a female writer
I've never understood English people who would rather have a good garden to boast of than children but I'm not English.
Something breaks when a woman leaves u and then u're told that she is with another woman: let's see aLFRe... a word that describes my state of mind then: puzzled? Not that, I guess

  14. Just finished Jeanette Winterson’s 12 Bytes. An engaging work of future looking non fiction by my favorite author. Especially loved this chapter #jeanettewinterson #nonbinary
