It was years ago when I first read, and loved, The Sheltering Sky by Paul Bowles. So it is strange that it took almost 36 years before I decided to read his 2nd novel Let It Come Down. The setting is The International Zone of Tangier Morocco in 1949, a world that offers a multitude of dark, fascinating characters in a noirish setting of smoky cafés, brothels and bars. Amazing that it has never made it to the big screen.
