I’ve started writing a Mirror Manager for #ParchLinux from scratch using Python, GTK4, and Libadwaita.

It’s called Mirrorman, and it still needs some work before becoming fully stable.

For now, it fetches the country list, pings the mirrors, sorts them by speed, and saves the results to the mirrorlist file.

I’ve already implemented most of #Reflector ’s features, and I plan to add more and release the source code under GPL-3 tomorrow.

Any suggestions are welcome! :)

I'm getting better at this long #telephoto #handheld #photography... this was shot in very tricky conditions on a gloomy winter day through a triple-glazing window (you can see refraction blurring most pronounced at the right edge where the angle to window panes was the widest). Shot using unstabilized manual focus 500mm f/8 Maksutov–Cassegrain type #reflector #vintage #lens (Tamron SP 500) at 1/250s ISO-320 on an #IBIS #FullFrame #Canon camera with electronic shutter. Distance measurements were made in Google Maps. I guess you could triangulate my vantage point now 😅

At this stage it is carry on regardless. There seems to be plenty of observing time, but it will mean careful selection of a few good targets, fewer than intended. Over the day I will have a ponder about what I really want to have a look at & focus on.

So next stop will be later this afternoon when the #telescope comes out & I get everything aligned, collimated etc
