  1. FNB never responded. I think that local group is defunct.

  2. Got the application for volunteering at the local food bank, in Ambler.

  3. (cont.) With a Class 2 e-bike, you can use max pedal assist to move through that risk period as quickly as possible. My Townie will do 28 mph in 8th at max assist. That gives me more options for managing risk than either of my non-e bikes.

    - At the same time, that's a lot of zip for a bicycle, and I wonder whether kids, say under 16, have the judgment to use it wisely. I see kids zipping around the neighborhood on e-bikes. Be careful!

  4. Further thoughts about e-bikes:

    - The amazing & really useful thing about an e-bike has to do with overtaking. On a bicycle, you're constantly being overtaken by cars, sometimes rudely and & unsafely.

Yet sometimes, due to the nature of the road or the usability of the shoulder, you *have to* occupy the lane. Now, from the cars' POV, you're blocking traffic. They can't overtake, and they'll get mad. This puts you at real risk, so you need to do it judiciously.

  5. At 6:15 am after taking out the garbage, I return to find my 13-year old son excitedly crossing the floor to check texts on his phone. That done, he slumps into a chair, *appearing* exhausted.

I finish setting up the coffee and retreat upstairs to the office. He *follows* me into the office, looms behind me. "What?" I ask him.

"Can you get me a donut?" he asks.

"Get your own fucking donut! Show the same energy as when you checked your phone." I say.

  6. Vaguely feeling that protesting is not enough for me, I'm contacting the nearest FNB collective to see if they're still active. I want to show not just what I'm *against*, but what I'm *for*, if that makes sense. Someone here recently said a system falls away when folks simply start using a better one. Perhaps for me ... we'll see.

  7. Partner sold her 1973 Cessna 182 Skylane, which lacked the necessary instrument package to complete her IFR training. What next? Cirrus something or other? Columbia something or other? We'll see.

I got just one ride in the Skylane. Mostly it was a training vehicle, which took her through VFR and into IFR.

  8. A few dozen of us patriots at the in Devon this morning. I'm hopeful that as this disaster continues to unfold, and the weather warms, our numbers will grow.

  9. Several dozen of us at this morning's in Devon, PA. I was underdressed, not having checked the weather since earlier in the week. But I stuck it out, because although I feel like all is lost, I have my part to play still.

But what is it about the young men? We had a group of late teens go by four times, hanging out of their mom's SUV, yelling Trump stuff at us. I wonder ...
