It is occurring to me now that, if I had filmed this, the script would be exactly the kind of thing you'd hear on just about every YouTube aviation video. It would basically be:
"Today, my wife and I are taking our little RV-9 up to Oregon to meet with an agent to sell our house. It's a 10 hour drive, or a 4 hour flight. Clearly we should drive."
(and for the return trip)
"The next day, after meeting and signing documents (and other meetings, because we both have day jobs), we took a rideshare back to the airport, loaded up and took off. This time, there wasn't much of a marine layer, so we flew over the coast.

This kind of last-minute single-day trip is really only possible with GA. It would have been very expensive to book 2 commercial round-trip tickets, plus there's just not that many flights for where we used to live. In less time than it would have taken to drive one way, we were able to make the round trip in our plane.

This is kind of making fun of how similar a lot of YouTube GA content is, but also... the point of those videos is not really the story/why behind the flight, it's the flight itself. I wonder if some creators just have templates for their scripts, and plug in different values for location, time, distance, etc. (Or rather, they used to do that and have since moved to having llms write their scripts)
Also, I 100% did want to film this, but didn't because I don't yet have a source of power for external cameras. The external one would have died about 2 hours into the flight, and that one provides the best-looking shots.

Today I did a flight from Pasco to Pullman to Walla Walla to Pasco again. It was my first solo cross country flight. For the most part it was smooth and I had a good time. Walla Walla was a bit windy to land in but I got to park next to my plane I flew when I started my training. All in all a fun day.
