probably only interesting to old dancehall nuts like me, but following up on my E 2nd St klezmer research I found a few blurry versions of this ad from Morgn Zhurnal July 1912 on jpress, and went and found a clearer scan on the LOC site.
this was one of many of these little event/dance halls around there which was right in the middle of the Yiddish theatre / nightlife district and regularly booked Yiddish concerts, Jewish weddings, etc.

having been adding to this tally over morning coffee most days since this, and so far I'm at 165 Jewish musicians who lived along this strip ~1910-25, of which ~45 are known klezmer musicians and ~55 are Progressive Musical Benevolent Society members. (the organization's office was right here.) so really if there were likely many hundreds or low thousands of klezmer musicians (?) in NYC in that era, it's not at all the majority of them.
