Had a takeaway delivered last night from a burger joint I'd not heard of previously.
The burger & fries weren't as hot as they could have been, but this was probably due to the delivery guy (on a bicycle apparently) doing another drop before mine.
My main conclusion, after trying a handful of different establishments, is that a burger is a burger is a burger.
They all use 'smash patties', the extras (cheese etc.) is mostly the same. The real difference, weirdly, comes in the fries, how they're seasoned etc.
My conclusion is that I should order from my local burger place (literally yards down the road) where I'll get roughly the same as all the other vendors, and due to it's proximity, it'll arrive hotter.

Beware of "compostable" products that aren't actually compostable at home. In digging through my compost pile this week I unearthed 3 forks (from takeout food I purchased several years ago) that I think were made by the California-based company, Karat Earth (aka Lollicup). On Amazon and elsewhere the sentence the company uses in marketing is "simply toss the fork into a compost bin when finished." And the forks themselves have the text, "compostable" embossed on them. On company's own website, however, is a logo from the Biodegradable Products Institute (BPI) indicating, in a small font, that forks are "commercially compostable only," which means they only begin to break down at ~190 °F (88 °C). This is very interesting as another case where a large company decides how to deals with #inactive #accounts. IMO they do an okay job to explain what will happen, but this completely misses the point of WHY they need to delete inactive account's data (I don't buy the "privacy practices), and moreover, be transparent as to how people can save extract their data from your platform (#Google #Takeout, btw), and deactivate the account on their own will.

People still really don't understand #ReducedWaste : a new Edmonton bylaw re: #SingleUse items in #TakeOut food, CTV interviewed a young guy in drive-thru and he clearly thought the new charge for bags was about the restaurant covering the cost of the bag- nevermind that it is a city bylaw, nevermind that the idea is to reduce single use items going into #landfills
at my workplace, customers and some staff griping about new take-out containers, spoons, straws etc that are *not* plastic.... -
First time ordering takeout at our local (favorite) Japanese restaurant.
It warms my heart that they took the same care making my poke bowl pretty in the takeout container as they do in a porcelain bowl at the restaurant.
