I was able to successfully able to install #FreeBSD twice! Due to issues with audio drivers on the #N100 mini pc, I moved the BSD over to the #ebox.
Things are looking pretty snazzy with #Lumina. I have to say, I am very happy with this install and set up.
As for #AlpineLinux, I will move that over to the N100 mini pc.

I was able to successfully able to install #FreeBSD twice! Due to issues with audio drivers on the #N100 mini pc, I moved the BSD over to the #ebox.
Things are looking pretty snazzy with #Lumina. I have to say, I am very happy with this install and set up.
As for #AlpineLinux, I will move that over to the N100 mini pc.

Alrighty, the #ebox is running very well on #AlpineLinux! If multitasking, it can handle web browsing and streaming music with no issue. It can also handle 1080 full screen video if mono-tasking.
So I call this a win. Oh, and I changed the window manager from Openbox to kwin. Here is the obligatory #fastfetch screenshot.
Now what to do with the N100 mini pc..... -

Slowly trying to get X up and running on this (yeah, I'll move to Wayland when something workable is available, watching CoW closely, but it's a way off daily driver status, so FVWM3 for now).
Right now it's fighting me, because I went the "light" option, opting to install what I needed rather than slimming down a full-fat OS.
Maybe once I'm out of work I might try NetBSD on this, but in the meantime I need Linux for Docker image compatibility.
I installed `xinit`, but now it complains it can't run in framebuffer mode. So now we wait for `raspberrypi-ui-mods` to install a truckload of deps.
In the meantime, obligatory #neofetch (actually #fastfetch). I managed to get the font size up to something readable too.

8 days into my #NixOS journey, I think I reached a point at which my config is working great.
It's built super modular, so I can apply it easily to my laptop as well, by just en- or disabling some options. E. g. I don't need steam on the laptop, so just add "winnios.programs.steam.enable = false" to the config.
Also spent a little time "ricing" the desktop a bit. All in all a very pleasent working environment I built for me.

Nothing is really 'wrong' with neoFetch.
The author of that software announced he was no longer working on it and pretty much disappeared. It works, but may not recognize distros that are newcomers and weren't programmed into the last release of neoFetch.
I do prefer fastFetch, as it is written in C, is slimmer and does, well... seem to be faster.
Debian Trixie has fastFetch instead of NeoFetch, for example.

Este #ViernesDeEscritorio les comparto que va muy bien el proyecto de educación tecnológica en casa con mi hija. Hace unos 6 meses, nos cedieron una #iMac de 2011, atorada en #MacOS 10.13.6 (ya no se le puede instalar #Chrome, sólo admite #Firefox ESR, #LibreOffice 7.4.5 y un montón de limitantes más).
Hasta el fin de semana pasado, mi hija de 9 años, usaba esa máquina para tareas y juegos, con MacOS. Recientemente, obtuve un dock para discos duros, rescaté uno de una computadora que desechó mi papá, conecté ambas cosas a la iMac y le configuré su propio #EliveLinux en modo live usb con persistencia (única forma en que consigo preservar MacOS y usar #Linux ahí).
El domingo pasado, con una sencilla pero elocuente explicación, le di su iniciación como hacker, sensibilizando sobre la importancia de explorar la tecnología más allá de lo evidente y buscar alternativas más privadas, seguras, personalizables y sustentables:
✅ Revisó su primer correo NO-Bigtech
✅ Hizo su primera tarea en #LibreOffice (v. 25.8.5)
✅ Concluyó una serie de ejercicios de inglés en plataforma mediante Firefox (v. 147)
✅ Envió su primer documento a imprimir
✅ Eligió su primera lista musical en #AudaciousEstaba extasiada con todo lo que se podía hacer mejor en Linux en comparación con MacOS, pero no tanto como yo 🤩.

Dang that is a good lookin' desktop. I switched over to #Fedora from the SUSE and it was super smooth.
The very few issues I ran into with SUSE have disappeared now that I am on Fedora. Hopefully this will be the end game for this PC.

The ones that I've tested and are easy to install are these three

fastfetchThese are easy to install and fun.
I love hyfetch colour output!Raspberri Pi5 experience
- neofetch is still alive on the SBC Pi5 distro
- screenfetch install works
- hyfetch is not in the standard repositories
- I want hyfetch here too so I'll go to the home page

- no install method for the Pi5 found yet
- Source fetch then
./configure: make: make installI - I dont want to install a full gcc programming stack due to the fact that I am running on a microSD card. Those tend to slow down when a number of IOPs are requested and when the cache needs to be written to the card
- fastfetch commands dont work in standard distro
- the command
add-apt-repositorydoes not exist > I will check that out in MX Linux for the SBC Pi5
