Spent my working day on a Win 11 box. It is horrendous indeed.
The good part: I was sacrificing that Thinkpad to Crux Linux. Test install was completed successfully; I built htop and zsh just to learn. Now trying a kernel update. Needless to say my favorite ports repo is Portastrophe, by @jloc0 . The usual cool niceties. Inching towards a final install, with Niri, fuzzel, ghostty, you get it 😎 TGIT, so I can have a beer later on. 🍻

@daedalus just read the #crux and loved your bit at the end. I have a similar history to you - a lot of contract and consulting work, but with retirement a little closer than I could admit, an opportunity came up with a team that I had worked with previously over many contracts and so I took the pay cut for the security of knowing that the last 5years or so of my ‘career’ I won’t have to do another job hunt. I should have done it earlier. The people are really great, the job is worthwhile and my boss cares and fights for his team. Have made some great friendships and we have done things together outside of work and ‘work drinks’. Very happy to have this as the last line of my resumé.
