I've now made it a habit to turn on basic telemetry on new #Linux installs. These people won't use that data for advertising, but _actually_ improving the product. Let them know I put #Kinoite on a #Chromebook, #NixOS on a MacBook and #ArchLinux on a Surface Hub (that last one wasn't actually me).
The Year of the Linux Desktop is NOW, we just don't know, because we've lost all trust in telemetry. -
Alongside the Fedora 44 release, I’m happy to announce that we have sealed bootable container images ready for testing for the Fedora Atomic Desktops!
Sealed bootable container images include all the components needed to create a fully verified boot chain, from the firmware to the operating system composefs image. This relies on Secure Boot on UEFI systems.
More details at https://fedoramagazine.org/sealed-atomic-desktops-test-images/ and https://github.com/travier/fedora-atomic-desktops-sealed

To fix impacted systems immediately, run the following command as root:
$ chmod --verbose 0000 /etc/shadow /etc/gshadow /etc/shadow- /etc/gshadow-For more details, notably the full list of affected versions, see: https://github.com/coreos/rpm-ostree/security/advisories/GHSA-2m76-cwhg-7wv6 "
