(Not really surprised, Ubuntu isn't really a user-focused distro anymore, Canonical makes money from enterprise customers, who like to slave for Microsoft I guess, but they use WSL because Linux is often much better at development stuff.)

finally got around to booting up the desktop and my rog ally and installed the big #bazzite bump. curious what'll change on the handheld but the desktop seems to be bidness as usual.

Help point me in the right direct, kind #gaming #linux people:
I use #bazzite on my gaming PC and it plays games fine but basically everything else is bizarrely shitty. Applications open incredibly slowly if they open at all. It handles sleep/wake like it is learning about it for the first time every time. It just sort of generally sucks as an operating system but somehow plays games super well.
I know this is not normal. Where should I start looking to figure out what the issues might be?

A fun difference that I've discovered between #Bazzite and #CachyOS is that CachyOS can wake my computer from sleep if I tap a key on the keyboard. Bazzite required me to hit the actual power button the computer case.
It also feels snappier than Bazzite. I haven't really gamed on it yet, just a bit, but it felt similar to Bazzite. I'm just really enjoying the desktop experience. I went with #Noctalia and #Niri.

Okay, did some A/B testing of CachyOS (Handheld Edition) and Bazzite (HTPC) installed on my two faux "Steam Machines". Both targeted AMD, and both should boot directly into Steam. The quick summary:
- I still really enjoy CachyOS...
- ...but it's not the greatest with respect to out-of-the-box support/config.
- Bazzite had no issues on the main machine (Ryzen 5950/Radeon 7900XT) resuming from sleep, and after a poweroff and power drain the Beelink SER7 didn't have any issues resuming from sleep.
- CachyOS didn't have any real issues coming out of sleep on the main machine, but you could not wake it from the controller. It also could not connect the XBox Wireless Elite 2 controller to the wireless adapter no matter how much I tried. I'm gonna ignore the SER7 because I think there's some dumb going on in there.
- Bazzite did wake from controller on both the GameSir G7 Pro (Wireless USB Adapter) and the XBox Elite 2 controller (XBox Wireless Adapter), also ignoring the SER7 because of the aforementioned dumb.
- Neither had issues with Bluetooth support.
- Both had an issue with initial boot post-install. Config worked out, but then it just went into a black screen. After a `steamos-session-select plasma` command in the console, Steam updated, and a reboot later everything worked perfectly.Overall, just run Bazzite for the time being.

Have a spare Beelink, figured the bedroom could use a nice "Steam Machine". Should be more than capable enough to run things like _Slay the Spire 2_ and various Metroidvanias.
