🔧🤖 Ah, what a noble quest: #coding a web server in #aarch64 #assembly to fill the existential void left by modern conveniences. Because, clearly, the best way to achieve enlightenment is by manually handling #syscalls and discarding decades of progress. 🌐🚀 Enjoy reinventing the wheel, one byte at a time!

@pallenberg Ubuntu 26.04 vom Concept ISO. Battery life bei lowkey productivity work (Terminal, Browser) 8h. Habe mich sogar getraut, es für einen 4h Talk zu verwenden.

FreeBSD 15.0-RELEASE-p3 on ARM64 in QEMU:
― SDDM, pictured, is barely usable.
After login to Plasma (X11), resolution is limited to 800 x 600.
How can I avoid the issue with SDDM?
Host: Kubuntu 25.10, Virtual Machine Manager with Ramfb for video. Guest: non-base packages from the latest repos.
Not reproducible with FreeBSD 16.0-CURRENT on ARM64 in QEMU on the same host.

Surprisingly there isn't actually a good networkd single plane of glass cli. So I wrote one. https://codeberg.org/aenertia/rxnm #libreelec #rocknix #linux #networking #embeded #aarch64 #systemd

New #blog post. Let's write a peephole optimizer for #QBE that operates on #AArch64 assembly code. Three years ago, we did this for #AMD64 assembly code. But now that I have Arm machines, we can replicate the effort for another CPU architecture.

Does anyone know of an inexpensive ARM aarch64 SBC that has a dedicated JTAG port? That is, one that doesn't multiplex with the SD slot and stays enabled after normal boot (or can be easily kept enabled without uboot recompile)?

Spend the afternoon debugging my personal application after upgrading to #Java24. It would not start on my #PINE64 (#AARCH64 #ARM) . But it worked on my machine (yeah I know). Seems that the latest #openjdk builds are broken on that architecture. I initially thought that Java 24 changes to much it broke but it is the latest patch. It now runs smoothly on 21.0.6. Too bad I can't file a #bug somewhere. It has to do with #classloading. #java #developers #tenmurin

#Hangover 10.2 has been released (#Wine / #WineHQ / #WineIsNotAnEmulator / #WoW64 / #Windows64 / #X8664 / #AArch64 / #ARM64) https://github.com/AndreRH/hangover

Building off last week's release of #Wine10, #Hangover10 is now available as this adaptation for running #Windows #games and applications on #ARM64 #Linux and other non-x86_64 CPU architectures.
Hangover is the #opensource project that pairs Wine with emulation tech like #FEX, #QEMU and #Box64 for being able to run on other non-x86/x86_64 architectures. #AArch64 remains the primary focus of Hangover but there's also been work carried out on POWER and RISC-V support too.

A wild #blog post appears.
A tutorial for setting up a cross compilation environment using FreeBSD/amd64 as the host and macOS/aarch64 as the target.

Haven't posted in a long time, but I am just so elated that I finally have #vaapi decoding running under #chromium and #wayland finally!!! And on #aarch64 as well. A note to anyone testing the new patches make sure you don't have #use-out-of-process-video-decoding enabled in chrome://flags There is a bug that is causing that and vaapi decoding to fail.

RISC-V community wonders which way to with emulation. I hope that they follow AArch64 steps:
- virt for virtualization in cloud etc
- sbsa-ref for reference platform'tech-brs' ML requires RISC-V member access to subscribe.

I have added column showing SBSA Reference Platform (sbsa-ref) status to https://marcin.juszkiewicz.com.pl/download/tables/bsa-sbsa.html page.
It has all (S)BSA requirements listed with ACS test numbers added.

Last week was BSD on SBSA Reference Platform week.
I did FreeBSD and found one bug in QEMU, and it looks like one backport from FreeBSD 14 to 13.x will be needed.
NetBSD 9 may get backport from 10 to make it boot at all.
OpenBSD 7.3 went smooth. Once I updated firmware.
