It's been 0 days since I wanted to (*) apply a patch from an email-list to the Linux source tree. And it has been a bloody long while since I last had to do that!
(*) Patch from November is for a single file and has already bit-rotted sufficiently that it doesn't apply cleanly, but it's straight-forward C that I can whip into shape myself.
Why, yes, of course I'm dabbling with #aarch64 and #CoreSight again, why you're asking?

Блендинг считает функцию для всех элементов и сохраняет только нужные. Для дешевых функций это оптимально, но на pow проигрывает в несколько раз. Можно сжать подходящие элементы, посчитать только их и разжать обратно. Разбираемся, где граница, и делаем адаптивный алгоритм.

Bad news : Only medium CPU configurations, solely 32 GiB RAM, no modem available at all, no 120 Hz, maximally Full HD, only 2 USB-C, no Thunderbolt. Sorry, give me one reason to buy this crap ?
Are you kidding ? The specs are literally unchanged to worse from the last generation.

I am not familiar with it and how it is implemented in glibc, but out of curiosity I am wondering why they removed support for memory tagging on aarch64. The corresponding commit says that it was somehow broken: https://sourceware.org/git/?p=glibc.git;a=commit;h=70be9819b5eb7ed0050cffb45113332f96f5a55f
Does somebody have a nice link that explains the problem(s) in more detail?

#Collabora has developed along with #ValveSoftware an #aarch64 version of #ArchLinux. Right now they are not providing binary packages for everything in the original distro. @pallenberg Ubuntu 26.04 vom Concept ISO. Da sind gleich der x1e prepatched Kernel und ein paar Snapdragon tweaks bei. T14s ist relativ Arm-"friendly", weil die Firmwareblobs für Linux so verfügbar sind und nicht aus einer bestehenden Windows Partition extrahiert werden müssen. Battery life bei lowkey productivity work (Terminal, Browser) 8h. Habe mich sogar getraut, es für einen 4h Talk zu verwenden.

The thing about Apple silicon Macs is that it's not as simple as downloading an #AArch64 ISO of your favorite distro and installing it. Yes, the M-series chips are ARM-based, but that doesn't automatically make the whole system compatible in the same way most traditional x86 PCs are. Pretty much everything in modern MacBooks is custom.

FreeBSD 15.0-RELEASE-p3 on ARM64 in QEMU:
― SDDM, pictured, is barely usable.
After login to Plasma (X11), resolution is limited to 800 x 600.
How can I avoid the issue with SDDM?
Host: Kubuntu 25.10, Virtual Machine Manager with Ramfb for video. Guest: non-base packages from the latest repos.
Not reproducible with FreeBSD 16.0-CURRENT on ARM64 in QEMU on the same host.
