    (*) Patch from November is for a single file and has already bit-rotted sufficiently that it doesn't apply cleanly, but it's straight-forward C that I can whip into shape myself.

    I'd never thought a small ARM machine for ~600€ could be a good deal... that was before the RAMPocalypse...

    The Minisforum MS-R1 comes with 64GB LPDDR5 ECC RAM.
    Thankfully I still had a spare KingSpec XG7000 2TB m.2 NVME SSD

    The CIX P1 CP8180 CPU is very new and Kernel upstreaming started in ernest with 2.6.19 but mainline is far from useable and the Debian Bookworm image that Minisforum provides is... a bit old.

    However Ubuntu has a working Image
    of 26.06 LTS that I used to install my machine with.

    Working 10Gbit Ethernet and Wifi is nice.

    Chimera Linux sits happily in a QEMU/KVM running on the same machine.

    Next step: get the needed bits into Chimera but not while it's so hot around here.

  18. a[mask] = f(a[mask]) на NEON. compress вместо blend

    Блендинг считает функцию для всех элементов и сохраняет только нужные. Для дешевых функций это оптимально, но на pow проигрывает в несколько раз. Можно сжать подходящие элементы, посчитать только их и разжать обратно. Разбираемся, где граница, и делаем адаптивный алгоритм.

But as someone that has been using #ArchlinuxARM for years and is not very happy with it, it will be interesting seeing if it evolves to a point it becomes a viable alternative. collabora.com/news-and-blog/ne

    I already know that the X1 line is typical Qualcomm dog shit 😠

    I also don't care much about Notebook use cases as I intend to run it in a mini up to mid size desktop case.

    Background is I want to find out if a CIX P1(CP8180/CD8180) based system like the minisforum.com/products/ms-r1 or radxa.com/products/orion/o6/ is the only reasonable performant and affordable platform to run PROXMOX (Pxvirt) on AARCH64 within the next 12 month or if the former mentioned two platforms are possibly better choices.

    I currently run Pxvit on a Raspberry Pi 5 16GB and feel the lack of power.

    I'm not made out of money so Ampere Altra and NVIDIA Grace Server CPUs are not an option.
