I am trying to get more comfortable with the #CLI.  Tinkering around with the #RpiZ2w is making it fun and keeps the stakes low if I mess up.

Currently I have #Tmux, #MidnightCommander, #Pyradio, #Hyfetch, #Btop and more installed.  If you know of other fun #TUI based programs (that do not need a lot of compiling power), holler at yo boi!

• neofetch is still alive on the SBC Pi5 distro
• screenfetch install works
• hyfetch is not in the standard repositories
• I want hyfetch here too so I'll go to the home page
• Github page

• no install method for the Pi5 found yet
• Source fetch then ./configure: make: make installI
• I dont want to install a full gcc programming stack due to the fact that I am running on a microSD card. Those tend to slow down when a number of IOPs are requested and when the cache needs to be written to the card
• fastfetch commands dont work in standard distro
• the command add-apt-repository does not exist > I will check that out in MX Linux for the SBC Pi5

I upgraded my old-ass laptop to Debian 13 Trixie :debian: with KDE Plasma 6.3.6 :kde: . It went super smooth, no issues. I now have three systems running Trixie; my desktop, laptop, and homelab server. Here is my laptop's hyfetch.

After messing with Gentoo for a few days, as well as a few other distros, my distro-hopping expedition has landed me on Arch. What led me here was trying KaOS (it was lovely) and realizing it was too limited (no 32-bit libraries, wtf) and if I really wanted the benefits of Arch, I should just install Arch.

I am trying KDE Plasma 6.4.1. It is great! Coming from Cinnamon there is nothing I am missing.

It seems that the popular command-line system info tool Neofetch is dead, Jim. The Github repo for the project was archived by its main developer last week and is now read-only, a sure sign that development has well and truly ceased to be. Not that this is a shock given that development on Neofetch had stalled a few years back, bug reports went unanswered, merge and pull requests ignored, and the last stable update issued back in 2020. I’ve been a long-time fan of Neofetch using it on all my installs since discovering it in 2015, showcasing it in scores :sys_more_orange:

Pro tip for #neofetch users: if you want a newer version that's being updated, you can install #hyfetch and run "neowofetch". There are several #Python dependencies that will get installed for running hyfetch itself, though. I don't personally need hyfetch, but I'll be installing it anyway for #neowofetch when I install #EndeavourOS.
