Prima, dass das gut geklappt hat.
Aber aus solchen Gründen läuft #HomeAssistant bei mir völlig hardwareunabhängig als #VM.
Da fällt beim Umzug auf neue Hardware jegliches Backup & Restore mit allem, was da doch schief gehen kann, oder nicht migriert wird, weg.
#Virtualisierung wo immer möglich kann man nur empfehlen. -

No coz, wirtualke mam, do Office'a moze sie nada, ale input lag jest taki, ze do grania to sie absolutnie nie nadaje, tym bardziej do grania online 😅

In my #homelab I have a mix of #arm ( #raspberrypi ) and #intel / #amd #compute nodes. I have never actually tested if the VPC #network works between the two architectures. Decided to test it today, seems to work fine.
Below are two #selfhosted #vm on different bare metals with a shared VPC network using iperf.

My #ipfire #router running on #raspberrypi was getting too hot and I was seeing bad performance so I migrated it to a #vm on my #proxmox #homelab #server. In between the migration I spent two days on #opnsense. While I liked the matured GUI, I hated the amount of configuration I had to do to set up pppoe or QoS and the performance was equal to the pi. The primary issue was pppoe dropping and not reconnecting automatically. I had ipfire running in two mins, very happy.

I used to name my VM's when I launched them, last week I forgot to do it and I have been allowing incus to do the naming now.

Wird es noch eine Zukunft für VMs und Hypervisor geben oder wird in Zukunft "alles" containerisiert sein? - Bzw. dienen die VMs irgendwann nur noch dazu die Containerumgebung/Kubernetes zu starten? Welche Dienste werden auch in Zukunft durch VMs bereitgestellt werden? Welcher Anteil wird mal sein?

Auf meinem Mac-Mini von 2014 habe ich ja ZimaOS laufen und bin immer wieder überrascht, wie "smooth" da alles funktioniert.
Mit dabei ist eine VM, die einem praktisch alle Einstellungen abnimmt - für alle Distros. Im Vergleich zu OracleVirtualBox ein Traum. (Wahrscheinl. eine LinuxVM, aber auf meinem Linuxrechner habe ich bisher noch keine VM eingesetzt.)

I often need to spin disposable machines with network connectivity for testing, deployment or some work that require isolation, and then keep it running or trash it out!
I thought if I could just put the essential of my config into one of this nice disk images created by nixos-generators / disko and the likes.
I could then spawn a ton of #vm by pressing enter, arrow up, enter,.. 😄It took some time, but I finally came up with a cli that does the job!

If you're running ANY #CI (and even if you don't), fix this ASAP. As I understand it, if you compromise any #container (with kernel sharing, not a #VM), you compromise machine. From 2017 to the latest kernel.
Fast fix:
