  1. Day #9 of cleaning up litter along my #Commute route.

I expanded my reach a bit and cleaned up a little farther along my route. I got all of the junk in the picture, plus 2.5 bags to add to yesterday's measly half a bag.

    So far:

  4. I've been going through and doing my best to organize my #Music library in a standardized way, and I'm trying to get all of my files and folders looking like this. I've also gone through and similarly standardized all of the #ID3 tags.

Does anyone else get picky and a little bit ridiculous with the organization of files and/or music collections?

The pictures show how I organize my music collection. I'm using my Matthew Ebel folder as an example, because I just got it all nice and organized (#ID3 tags and all). I know there are some holes in the collection, which I'm doing my best to fill in.

If anyone isn't familiar with @matthewebel's music, take a listen and see if you like it. I highly recommend it:

  7. "What do you mean you don't want your data, messages, and Internet usage monitored? Don't you care about the children?!"

This is one of the arguments that the #US and #EU are using right now to attempt to sway public opinion against encryption. They're calling tech/web organizations' resistance to government backdoors "hypocracy," because some companies have complied with repressive governments.

"But why not with *our* governments?!"

The usual Helen Lovejoy argument is being used to justify more snooping.

Here's a sample of how they're spinning things, written in the minutes of the EU-US Senior Officials Meeting on Justice an Home Affairs:

    16-17 March, 2023

"A point of reference in this
regard is the 2021 G7 Statement which speaks of ‘maintaining tightly controlled lawful access to
data’; indeed, law enforcement is not seeking new powers but to preserve its ability to investigate."

"On end-to-end encryption, the US delegation noted a certain hypocrisy in the position of web
platforms that resisted constructive engagement on lawful access with liberal democracies, while being liable to bow to pressure in more repressive jurisdictions."

    "Beyond encryption, data retention
and data processing were also identified as areas of focus by the US delegation. It confirmed that
the fight against online child exploitation and abuse remained a national priority."

  10. CW: CW: Food (Vegan) / Homemade Cheesesteak

To celebrate my transferal to Kolektiva, here's some #FoodPorn. This is a #Vegan #Cheesesteak that I made a while back.

The "meat" is tofu that's been marinated and baked, then fried up in some coconut oil and tossed onto a roll. The homemade #Cheese #Sauce (a couple of slices of melted storebought vegan cheese, some #AlmondMilk, and some #NutritionalYeast) turned out delicious.

  11. A more uplifting sight is some of the cycling infrastructure in . 🚲 🚲 🚲

It's been years since I've been to New York, and I've seen some pictures and videos online about how much cycling infrastructure has gone in. Much of it is imperfect, but man they're making progress.

More than once I saw vehicles blocking the bike lanes (like in one of the photos below).

  12. I don't travel much, but I was in New York City recently, and ended up on the highway outside of the city.

The fact that this landscape in was so close to how "Jersey" is depicted in is absolutely hilarious.

(Yes, I know not all of New Jersey actually looks like this. 😁 )

  17. It's been a very, very long time since I had to burn any sort of optical media. I'm glad I finally get to use one of the blank that I have laying around for something. :D

I'm burning a copy of Windows 10 Enterprise for a friend.

  18. CW: CW: Cannabis Use

Day #7 of cleaning up litter along my #Commute route.

I made myself a hard-to-miss #Smoking spot on my ride home from work.

I cleaned everything up, and now I have a place to stop mid-commute and relax with some #Cannabis in the shade.

I was on my bike, so the bag that I filled up is still out there. I'll get it tomorrow when I drive past on my way out of town.

    So far:
    🛞 29 Tires
    🚮 33 Bags of trash
