#Transport for #London Freedom of Information release:
#TfL has published its response to an FOI request about the outer boundary of Zone 6 in #Surrey. The requester sought the rationale for setting the Zone 6 boundary at #Surbiton on routes to #Guildford and #Woking, and at #Hampton Court for Thames Ditton and Hampton Court stations, as well as any related meeting minutes or correspondence on extending Zone 6 in Elmbridge. TfL said the zonal system was introduced around 30 years ago, broadly based on six concentric zones across London, with few changes since and only where revenue impacts allowed. TfL confirmed it has no power to extend zones to stations outside its network, stating this would be for the train operator and the Department for Transport. It holds no relevant correspondence and no minutes from a May 2025 meeting with Monica Harding MP. TfL noted fares are mainly based on station-to-station pairings and referred queries to South Western Railway.

🇬🇧🚁 #UK is investing nearly £46.5 million to accelerate drone #technology and advanced air mobility, including flying #taxis, while strengthening enforcement against illegal drone use. Around £26 million will support #innovation, regulatory reform and digital systems to speed approvals for commercial #drone operations such as emergency response, medical deliveries and infrastructure inspections, aiming for air taxis from 2028. A further £20.5 million will fund a drone identification system, similar to number plates, using Remote ID to transmit ID and location data in real time, helping police track unlawful or nuisance flights and improve airspace security. Delivered through the Civil Aviation Authority, the programme aims to cut red tape, improve safety oversight and support wider use of drones across public services and industry. Ministers estimate the sector could be worth up to £103bn by 2050, supporting jobs and growth while maintaining safety standards.

Final hand-in dates are 18 December for basic letters and 29 December for services like registered or return receipt letters. Postal labels can be purchased until 18 December 2025 and refunded for a limited time in 2026 if unused. From 1 June to 31 December 2025, all 1,500 red mailboxes will be gradually removed. International mail with PostNord continues until 31 December 2025, after which a new provider will be chosen. The change affects only letter services in Denmark; parcel services and Swedish letter delivery continue. PostNord aims to be Denmark’s preferred parcel courier. The West Midlands Combined Authority (WMCA) Board on 13 March 2026 considered a Full Business Case to procure around 24 battery-electric articulated “tram-like” #buses and charging infrastructure for the Sprint bus rapid #transit scheme. The project, part of a wider vision for improved public #transport, would operate along the A34 and A45 corridors linking #Walsall, #Birmingham and #Solihull. The report recommends approving £25.96m in funding, combining CRSTS and Department for Transport ZEBRA grants, and delegating contract authority. The preferred option offers strong strategic fit and value for money, with a positive benefit-cost ratio, improved accessibility, reduced emissions and faster journeys. Further work is required on the ticketing model. Sprint is expected to launch with franchised bus services from October 2027.
