  1. And unsurprisingly the rightwing #Reform supporting local rags that are the Eastern Daily Press and Norwich Evening News (both Newsquest) have zero reporting on #Norwich #Pride today, despite the huge turnout that filled the city centre.

Local news is dead to anyone on the Left.

  5. Greater Anglia has been confirmed as the main sponsor of #Norwich #Pride 2026, which will take place on Saturday 25 July. The railway operator is backing the event for a second consecutive year and will lead the sponsors' section of the city centre march from City Hall to Chapelfield Gardens. Staff from Greater Anglia, c2c and Network Rail Anglia, now working together as GBR Anglia as part of the transition to Great British Railways, will join the parade alongside colleagues from the company's LGBTQIA+ employee network and allies. Norwich Pride celebrates the #LGBTQIA+ community and promotes inclusion across the city. Around 20,000 people are expected to attend the 18th annual event. Greater Anglia previously supported Norwich Pride as entertainment sponsor in 2024 before becoming the main sponsor in 2025.

  7. "Employees have taken to wearing rainbow badges in protest at the removal of the Progress Pride flag from County Hall, and support sessions have been held for concerned employees."

    #Norwich #Norfolk #ReformUK 🤦‍♂️

  11. Greater Anglia has invested more than £700,000 in improvements at Great Yarmouth #railway station ahead of the summer season. The work includes upgraded waiting areas, refurbished toilets, a new Changing Places toilet, improved passenger information screens, a live bus information display, a Broads Discovery Hub and a station defibrillator. Building repairs, including glazing, roof work and canopy redecoration, are also nearing completion.

New weekday peak services have been introduced between #Norwich and Great Yarmouth, providing extra travel options for passengers. The upgrades aim to make the station more welcoming, accessible and easier to use, while supporting visitors travelling to the town and east coast.

  12. #Norwich urgently needs real crossings to enable kids to safely walk to school without parents.

At present there are just permissive crossings, with braille paving stones, no lights, no zebra element…they are just slightly raised like the ineffective ‘sleeping policeman’. Drivers ignore kids waiting to cross at them and just zoom over. I have seen so many near misses, it’s heartbreaking and infuriating.

  14. I feel that this year’s #Refugee Week (15th to 21st June 2026) is more vital than ever particularly in my city of #Norwich.

We have experienced a lot of tensions and high profile court cases in the past year. But those that seek to exploit this and reject our status as a City of Sanctuary cannot be allowed to dominate media coverage on this issue.

  16. I was away last week. In between visiting castles and cathedrals, I caught an excellent gig by Neil Cowley Trio in Norwich. (Excellent, but not as good as some of the shows I've seen them play!)

  18. The I don’t know if it was the British F35s or the American fighter jets flying over #Norwich this morning…but it genuinely made me think we are at war.

And perhaps to all intensive purposes we have been for some time. We just haven’t cognitively realised what war looks like in 2026.

  20. It is amazing (and yet quite mad) that my record is the second best selling "pop" album by an artist based in #Norwich #bandcamp

Norwich has a bright and lively music scene, with bands and artists producing some of the most amazing #music in the country!

But is it pop? Who cares!

  22. ‘Clive Lewis, the Labour MP for #Norwich South and a leading advocate of returning the ##water industry to public ownership, said handing over #ThamesWater to the likes of Singer and #ElliottManagement would be like “throwing red meat to the wolves”.

“The fact that he is known as a vulture capitalist should tell you everything about how inappropriate this deal is … these kinds of people are there to suck the life blood out of our utilities and public services”

Unfortunately their school uniform is blue! But my kid did ask, ‘will we get to sing to any Green politicians too?’ And I reassured them they would - the councillors from #Norwich are mostly Green!

  26. “There’s a deer trapped in an escalator” was not a phrase anyone at Hillside Animal Sanctuary in Norfolk was expecting to hear when staff at a Marks & Spencer department store in central #Norwich called last Tuesday.

“In #Norfolk, deers often get themselves in trouble,” said the sanctuary’s founder, Wendy Valentine. “They get stuck between walls and sheds, and in gates. It’s quite common for deer to get trapped … but ‘trapped in an escalator’ was a first.”
