They don't seem to be on fedi, which (amusingly?) automatically makes me wonder if it is the right sort of "con" for me.
I've never heard of it before, but it looks like it has been around a while (it started after I left the tech industry, so no real reason I should have heard of it until now.)

Some particularly chilling things about this #domestic #murder case in #Norwich #Norfolk are how effective #CCTV is in the city ( main cameras are *very* high quality HD images), offender was previously an *employee* of Norfolk #Constabulary and a craft #knife was used as the murder #weapon.
Such a knife is more widely available and doesn't raise many eyebrows when purchased by a middle aged adult man - but would also take a lot more premeditation to use effectively to cause serious harm than larger "zombie #knives" that gang members prefer..
And because of men like him I have to be paranoid about keeping a Sealey craft knife in my car (retrieved from a former fleet vehicle and used for peaceful purposes) in case I ever get a random stop check..

Clive Lewis, #Norwich South #Labour MP has spoken about the fire on Mousehold Heath:
“The immediate cause of this fire is not yet known.
"What we do know is that intense heat and severe drought are driving it, multiplying the number of outbreaks we see across the country.
"Climate breakdown is happening around us right now, posing a major threat to our communities.
"Yet we still lack a coordinated, cross-government strategy or the resources needed to build proper resilience."

Partial #Eclipse up on Mousehold Heath above #Norwich.
So glad we managed to get the special glasses in time - definitely made it seem real! But my attempts at photographing the event through my phone with the special lens filter were woeful…
The atmosphere however, was brilliant - loved seeing everyone come out to see it!

Local reporting on reopening of #Norwich library…

Went to the newly reopened #Norwich library in the Forum today.
Was mostly impressed:
- Kids/Teens/Manga in one place, separated by arches
- Lots of study space and tables for group work and board games.
But…
- Sadly my niece tells me there are less poetry books - but they are more accessible on lower shelves.
- It felt sterile - no exhibition space. Didn’t see the signs that were previously on display at entrance stating it’s a trans friendly safe space (#Reform are to blame for this)

Those who follow me will know that I say #Norwich and wider #Norfolk are like night and day when it comes to political persuasions.
They will also know that I am no fan of the local rag, the Eastern Daily Press as it routinely sides with #Tories and #Reform.
Yet this is what its editor had to say tonight about the thuggery taking place in #Thetford that has threatened the life of one its journalists.

Greater Anglia has installed a new £4.9m sanding system at its Crown Point depot in #Norwich to improve train reliability and safety.
The system replaces manual handling of five-kilogram sand bags with a 30-tonne storage silo and compressed air network, distributing kiln-dried sand through around 500 metres of pipework to 55 delivery points across the depot.
Staff can now fill train sand boxes using pump-style nozzles, which automatically stop when full. The upgrade reduces manual work, prevents damp sand issues and supports better traction and braking, particularly during autumn and winter when trains use more sand on slippery rails.
The depot services 27 trains every 24 hours and can use up to three tonnes of sand during busier periods. Greater Anglia said the investment will help improve service performance, reliability and resilience for passengers.
