  1. Florida International University: Researchers install 3D-printed seawall tiles to support coastal protection and marine life. “The system uses modular, interlocking tiles that can be attached to existing seawalls. Each tile is robotically printed and designed with grooves, ridges, crevices and small pools that create more complex surfaces for marine organisms to attach, shelter and grow.”

  2. Coastal erosion emergency in #Lancelin WA - and locals are left to fundraise $150k for a seawall themselves!
The beach has lost 50m in just 15 months, with a hotel, pub & caravan park now at risk. Nearly $90k raised in 2 weeks by the community, but locals say the state govt is "missing in action".
A $150k state grant for sand renourishment last year washed away within 6 months. Now residents are begging for hard infrastructure before their town slips into the ocean.
WA Nationals leader Shane Love says it's "outrageous" locals have to self-fund. Meanwhile, minister Jessica Stojkovski warns seawalls could affect other coastal areas - but locals point to Perth's miles-long seawall as proof it works.

When does community fundraising become a national disgrace?
