The first #trains carrying the new Great #British #Railways (GBR) #Anglia branding have been unveiled at #London #Liverpool Street, marking a milestone in plans to create a more integrated railway across the East of #England. #Cambridge South #railway station has been approved to open by the Office of Rail and Road (ORR), with passenger services due to start on 28 June 2026.

The station will provide direct access to the Cambridge Biomedical Campus, a major centre for healthcare, research and life sciences. It is expected to offer up to nine trains an hour to Cambridge, with direct links to #London, #Birmingham, #Stansted #Airport and Gatwick Airport.

ORR’s approval covers the station’s infrastructure, including four platforms, step-free access and passenger information systems. The regulator said the project met required standards for safety, #accessibility, reliability and environmental protection.

Yesterday the railway station’s LED board welcomed us quite nicely. Problem was, we were not in #Stansted Mountfitchet but 321mi north-west up in #Scotland 🤣
