Today on #TreasureHuntTuesday I found storage. Found a square rolling cart with a large central cavity and lots of pockets that fits all my bookbinding supplies so I can wheel it out of my studio until I need it. Also found three plastic sets of drawers for $4 US each: perfect for out-of-sight basement storage. I also found a set of shelves to hold machines I rarely use until I need them. This freed up space I can use for everyday purposes in my studio. #reuse #repurpose #thrift

Another banner #TreasureHuntTuesday. A few things I got were new (bread slicer, yet another cocktail smoker, a cold brew coffee maker) but also found some good Pyrex, metal pans that fit my air fryer, quirky coffee mugs and some nice glassware. I'll probably make a leather case for the smoker and offer it at my next crafts fair. #reuse #repurpose #thrift

It was a banner Treasure Hunt Tuesday. I found a couple things I have put off buying because they weren't in my budget: an artists portfolio ($2.10 with bonus sketch pad) and a combo magnetic/tack board ($4), both new. The value of these are $22 & $52 on Amazon. Also found a new tall storage bin for my studio ($4), a small bookcase for my cocktail books ($4.90) and a brand new train set for my Christmas Village ($4). Goodwills (thrift stores) around here sometimes bag up & sell groups of older 45s (that you can only see either side of because of the sealed bags). I took a chance on one because it had this Wings 45 I could see on the outside, and I SCORED with this Chairmen of the Board single. Fuckin LOVE 'Give Me Just a Little More Time'. One of my favorite songs. 🔥

ENTERING THE NEXT CHAPTER : HAMLEY’S SECONDHAND BOOKSTORE OPENS IN CAMBRIDGE
In Nov. 2025, Jamie Hamley and his wife Sheri opened Hamley’s Second Chapter at 132 Main St. in Cambridge.
Jamie, a resident of Waterloo, spent 15 years of his life overseeing operations at Petro Canada gas stations within the city. But his love for literature started early. Growing up in Owen Sound, Jamie spent his after-school hours immersed in local used bookstores, hunting for western novels by Louis L’Amour.
His passion for reading and books inspired his goal of opening a second-hand bookstore, especially when he discovered there were none in Galt.
“My employment at Petro-Canada moved to 3 days a week, so I was looking for an add-on opportunity,” Jamie said. “I have always been a used bookstore customer and an avid reader, so the choice was easy for me.”
The couple collected books for their inventory at a four-day used book sale in Guelph that had 80,000 books available; out of these, they purchased 4,000.
They continued their efforts by purchasing more books through online platforms such as Facebook Marketplace and Kijiji, as well as from individual residents.
“We have an open concept in the store,” Sheri said. “We don’t want to be overstocked and cramped. We like to offer open space for the customers to look around.”
To further support the neighbourhood, the couple has dedicated a table at the front of the shop to showcase local authors.
Aside from books, the store also offers second-hand puzzles, Funko Pops and DVDs. Jamie said they plan to sell games in the future, but since his stock has grown so quickly, he decided to stop buying merchandise for his store in January, to focus on organization.
“It’s important to recycle products to a second or even tenth user,” Jamie said. “Everybody is a reader—some people just haven’t found the right book yet. Maybe they can find it here.”
“We are just starting to see what the community wants,” Sheri said. “We have expanded our non-fiction section to try to meet our customers’ needs.”
Although having space for their store was a big dream come true, Sheri explained that finding a rental space that suited their needs was a challenge.
“I have always wanted a physical store,” said Jamie. “Customers want to have the book in their hands, and you never know what you will find when you search the shelves.”
With a three-year lease in place, the couple hopes that the store will become their full-time focus. Jamie sees it as the perfect “second chapter” and a meaningful project for him and Sheri to share throughout their retirement.

While out and about yesterday, I stopped at Aldi for essentials and picked up a pineapple while I was there. Then, at Goodwill, there was a pineapple corer/slicer, brand new, still wrapped, in the box. I figured this was a sign so I bought it.
It's hard to express just how handy that thing is. It stripped that fruit of its pineappley goodness in mere minutes. Totally worth the $3.20 US it cost me. #thrift #reuse #recycle #grateful #PineappleInTheDehydrator -
My bread machine hurled itself off my kitchen counter a few years ago. I haven't missed it much except it was very good for making dough. Today I bought a used one, in excellent condition, at the thrift store for $6.29 US. A baking blogger was kind enough to provide the user's manual on their site. I figured I could use this bread maker until I find something better but the more I read, the more I like it. It's smaller and more efficient than the model it replaced. #grateful #thrift #reuse

Banner day thrift shopping today. Found a padded fold up stool to go with my traveling work bench, a bartop air hockey table, four new CDs, a pair of French onion soup crocks, six sturdy storage bins, two new arts & crafts sets, a beer caramelizer and a bunch of other bits and bobs for the kitchen. Found some cool ass champagne flutes tosay at the charity shop I work at. I was told that someone's neighbour died as they brought in basically there entire kitchen more or less.
So much crystal drinking glasses I got these as I don't have any fancy champagne glasses (and one was a odd one out). Crazy that they are being priced at 25p each wtf XD

Found this at the charity/ thrift store I volunteer at today and it's kinda sad.... It is someone's beavers camp blanket/ poncho. Beavers is the thing before cubs which is then before scouts. I think you need to be 7 or 8 to join.
I went to beaver then cubs then went to sea/ naval cadets instead of cubs.
Anyways I kept all my badges from when I was there and it's kinda like a keep sake.
It's obviously handmade and made from wool (cus I'm so intune with fabrics jk XD).

Half way though mending these jeans I got from the thrift/ charity shop I work at.
Was gonna go in the trash since they have paint and a torn belt loop.
I unstitched the belt and patched the hole. Think I might make a new belt loop that is either next to the patch OR a slightly bigger loop which attaches in the original place on the top and then just below the patch.
What do I do about the paint? Do I look up how to paint jeans and just make it all arty?
