#handcraft #ArtAndCraft #leathercraft #WoodCraft #diycrafts … (1/3)

When I buy a leather side there's often sections that I can't use for resale because of scarring, brands or stretch marks. I like using these sections to make things for myself. I don't hide the imperfections and love seeing them. It's like I'm saying, "It's okay, Cow. I'm not beautiful either but I am useful. We can be useful together, you and I. There's a type of beauty in that."

These moccasins have been well loved. Before throwing them out, I'm taking the beads and a strip of leather that has no glue or other elements affecting it. I didn't think I'd get to start this until tonight but a power outage blessed me with a few hours of tech-free time. Now to learn how to clean/maintain suede so I can prep the piece I take for its next life.
