  2. I've spent much of this past spring & summer working on this handbag, made as a birthday present to my mother, executed according to her wishes and specifications. All #leather parts are #handstitched and the main material is vegetable tanned calf. I hope she'll like it, despite the imperfections. #handmade #leathercraft #maker

  4. I dyed some straps blue and the gloves I was wearing apparently had holes in them. This means my hands are stained worse than if I wore no gloves. The gloves allowed dye in and then held it there to dye my hands. Swell. #maker #dye #LeatherCraft

  5. Here is the ugly tote I was working on, right after I finished it, in a pub, whilst watching the World Cup game between England and France. I made it to hold my traveling tool box, finishing kit and projects when on the road and that's what's inside. I love the variations in colour of the dye, which is why I bought this hide. #LeatherCraft #HandMade #maker #HandStitched #leather #tote #ugly #beauty

  6. When I buy a leather side there's often sections that I can't use for resale because of scarring, brands or stretch marks. I like using these sections to make things for myself. I don't hide the imperfections and love seeing them. It's like I'm saying, "It's okay, Cow. I'm not beautiful either but I am useful. We can be useful together, you and I. There's a type of beauty in that."

  7. Went searching and this holster my mother made for me about 40 years ago. At the time it went with a Crossman CO2 pellet pistol shaped like a .357 Magnum. Yesterday, I bought a Ruger GP100 .357 Magnum. I'm thinking I will clean and recondition the holster for it.

  8. Today's Visual Diversion - because sometimes you need a break from the rigors of museum work!

90 Years of Skill in One Pair of Boots. Witness the incredible craftsmanship passed down through generations. From cutting the raw leather to the final stitch, every detail in these handmade boots reflects a lifetime of dedication to the traditional cobbler's art. #bootmaking #leathercraft #handmadeboots #craftsmanship #customboots #globalmuseum #cobbler

  9. Sometimes you just need to fix a tear in a bag, but why settle for something plain when the patch could be aggressively queer!

Love the UV reactive paint and thread. Will be doing more with both soon!

It’s also probably a good time to mention that I do custom leatherwork if there is any interest in something that is not just on my store page

  10. Our deck box leaked this winter. I pulled out my camp stool and it was encrusted with mold. I was heartbroken because that was such a disservice to the cow who had this hide.
I left the stool out for the rain to wash it. When it wasn't quite so bad, I washed it with soap & water. I sprayed it with antimicrobial. I let it dry. I rubbed it with leather ointment. It is resurrected. #LeatherCraft #restoration

  11. Just finished this case for my Japanese-style saws & extra blades for my frame saw. Saves a bit of space when I can hang them on the wall. The long edge is closed with leftover pieces of lacing so it can be opened should I need to add some extra fittings or such in the future. #leather #handmade #leathercraft #maker #handstitched

  12. Scored a set of siphon feed air brushes to dye my leather. They were on clearance and I had a coupon so there is no way they made any profit on these. Researched them before jumping in and they have excellent (real) reviews but the company is changing their supplier. They come with a console with a single lead to the compressor. #art #AirBrushes #LeatherCraft #maker

  13. Our local leather guild was provided finished fish leather from ICTYOS and given the challenge of creating an original leather product from the material. They are small hides so they are perfect for wallets or accenting other goods but I didn't want to do what everyone else is likely to do so I came up with this. It's a little loud but not too bad considering I had a train to catch so I just grabbed the first piece of leather I saw. #FishLeather #Maker #games #ICTYOS #LeatherCraft #Fish

  14. Puukontuppeja parkkinahasta.

  15. My first ever attempt at a leather belt bag, using scaps from a local leather shop.

I wish I had a more fitting buckle, but I had to use what I already own(low income). Hopefully I can get different buckles soon!

  16. I'm making handles and covers for my new, stupidly sharp, skiver knives so I don't accidentally lose any fingers. #LeatherCraft #maker #safety

  17. I saw Suzie Fletcher from The Repair Shop using homemade leather filler and set out to learn more information. Information is scarce but I gather it's a mix of leather dust mixed with PVA glue used in book binding. I cleaned my mini hand vac, vacuumed up leather dust from my sanding station and then transferred the contents of the vacuum to a jar. I then mixed up a batch in a small jar and mended a hole in my ottoman to try it out. It's currently drying. #LeatherCraft #maker

  18. I'm working on a case I've put a great deal of thought into and it's looking so beautiful I'm terrified I'm going to screw it up. I'm going for an antique vibe so there's no hardware. Tolerances are down to the eighth of an inch. Really hoping all my measurements are correct and it comes together as intended. I'd cross my fingers but then I couldn't stitch it. #LeatherCraft #maker

  19. I used to keep my cutting dies in the second drawer of this little tool chest but the drawers don't open all the way, the dies get mixed up and it's often hard to find the die I am looking for. I found this drawer at a charity shop for 75 cents. It's designed to hold Keurig cups but works perfectly for my dies. I can finally see and easily retrieve all my dies #reuse #repurpose #recycle #LeatherCraft #maker

  20. Time to take out the bike and put on the thermos flask holder I made a year ago. Leather and cork, also attachable to any back-bag with standard PALS webbing. #leather #handmade #leathercraft #maker #cycling #handstitched
