Upcycled a hand embroidered bargello pillow cover that echoes the colours in our rug. Thrifted the original (with powder blue satin ruffle) for a couple dollars, took it apart, and fashioned a border and back from curtain offcuts to make one that suits me better. People give these things away not appreciating the hours of work that went into them.

At one of my local thrift stores. On one hand, it would be helpful to spare my actual VCRs a little mechanical wear and tear. On the other hand, $7 seems a bit high. And on yet a third hand, I should hold out for one of the novelty sports car ones.

Got this bizarre Fujitsu keyboard in unused condition for a fiver at the thrift this afternoon. In stark contrast to the mechanical keyboard I've been using, this one is so quiet it's almost disruptive to my typing
Also the arrangement of the pipe/backslash and enter keys is... neat.

Feeling really lucky to have come across this artifact. Traditional songs have, by definition, been done to death, but Jay's renditions are entrancing. His rendition of How Great Thou Art nearly brought this atheist to tears.
The Wikipedia article on the man reveals so much more you'd never know from looking at his own autobiography and notes. Take a look if you've got a few minutes to learn some American history nobody's trying to teach you.

Some of Jay's recordings were complied for release in 2009 for an edition called "True Story of Abner Jay." The release includes a two-page autobiography by Jay. It's good reading.

Today's #thriftstorefind is this gigantic Toshiba DVR19DTKB2 combination #DVD and #VHS recorder from I think 2009, which I picked up from the British Heart Foundation for £20.
I still need to test and make sure it's working fine, but the BHF shop here are pretty good for not selling faulty stuff.

So I just got home and time to show off the #ThriftStoreFinds
I picked up 11 #VHS tapes (Do The Right Thing is still sealed), 4 #DVDs, 2 #vinyl records, and 10 #CDs.
Pretty good haul today and everything was right around $30.
