Day 3 of my trip involved exploring more Yosemite National Park with a hike to Vernal Falls, checking out the Ansel Adams Gallery, shower & nap, hiking near El Capitan, and riding the park’s free shuttle buses.
I return to SF tomorrow, but I will never get tired of the majesty of the giant features surrounding Yosemite Valley.

The gray granite seems to dominate the valley floor and from this perspective it does. But the river that cuts through the valley will lead you to many other places that try to also compete.

El Capitan
El Capitan is one of the first landmarks that you will see as you drive into Yosemite Valley. This granite wall rises 3,000 feet off of the valley floor and is truly a sight to see. From the valley floor El Capitan is visible as you enter into the park and is prominently displayed to see from most points in the valley.
I love sitting below this monolith trying to spot climbers.
