Really had a fun time exploring Truckee, Ca.
Truckee is a small town in the Sierras, not far from the Nevada state line. It's a charming little town with a commercial district that spans about 4 blocks. Then there is the Bar of America.
The Bar of America has a long and storied history. Worth the time to stop for a drink.

Hyatt Abstract

The Hyatt abstract is an image that I captured while walking around in downtown San Francisco. I was shooting buildings but looking for different perspectives from what most people would shoot.
They Hyatt is a tall high rise in in San Francisco. The structure is quit impressive as far as buildings go and is a wonderful piece of modern architecture.

Yosemite Falls Digital Watercolor

One of my favorite views in the country when the falls are running in the early spring.
As the snow melts in the higher elevations the water filters into Yosemite Creek high above the valley floor. As it makes it's way to the edge of the valley and makes it's spectacular drop to the valley floor.

Growing up in the Midwest these colorful ears adorned many of houses that I hung out in. Little did I know what a staple this was and how hardy this plant is, especially when it's compared to the white and yellow corn that most of us grew up eating.

Red Barn On Hoyt Road

Red Barn On Hoyt Road.
This red barn stands out in my mind as the iconic red barn of all times. Looking out over acres of lush green pasture land that the horses feed on throughout the spring, summer, and fall.
The barn has gone through some changes over the years and it's good to see that it's been restored, maybe even improved beyond restoration.

Skates And Bikes

These old roller skates caught my eye almost immediately. For those in my age bracket you will probably remember having some skates like these. For those not old enough, these skates were one size fit all as the two end slid together or apart depending on how you needed to adjust them. the final setting was adjusted with a key that locked the two halves in place.

Blue Angels Glow

One of the highlights of Fleet Week was the precision flying team of the Navy Blue Angels. The Blue Angels put on a high speed areal acrobatic show that was second to none. They would fly in over the Golden Gate Bridge and proceed to dazzle the audiences with precision stunts that amazed and delighted the large crowd.

Heitz Cellars

Fall Color Napa Style.
Fall color comes to Napa late in the year. At least compared to my friends in the North. The colors here start changing typically towards the end of October and seem to peak early in November.
This is the entrance to Heitz Cellars. The palm line the driveway up to an evergreen all while being surrounded by grape vines.

Fall Color Napa Style

Fall color comes to Napa late in the year. At least compared to my friends in the North.
Golden Napa Valley vineyards sweep across rolling hills in vibrant autumn color, with rows of yellow‑orange grapevines leading toward a hazy, sunlit horizon. Dark trees frame the left side, adding contrast and depth to the warm, glowing landscape.

Between the Rows

People it seems are drawn to order. Check the right box, everything in its place, so on and so forth.
Turns out that maybe nature needs order. The grape vines are manicured, primped, and trimmed to produce the best, highest quality grape with acceptable yields. There is a balance there but I think it's safe to say that the farmers in the Napa Valley have this pretty much figured out.

Riggsville Road is a main artery in Cheboygan County connecting Cheboygan Michigan to Pellston Michigan. Its upper rural Midwestern America in all it's beauty and glory.
Large expanses of land dotted with farmhouses and barns scattered around the rolling hills. Hard working people live out here and a few crazies too.

I was on a mission when I captured this image of a Red Barn in Levering Michigan. The mission was to capture pictures of old barns and I had found exactly what I was looking for.
This barn reflects everything I was looking for in a barn, the color red, the sloped roof, the big barn doors, out on the countryside in the middle of a pasture with dark blue skies framing the building.

The Pt. Reyes Muted

I love playing with this particular subject. The boat has been slowing deteriorating for as long as I can remember. I first shot this boat a few years ago and tend to stop every time I go out to Point Reyes.
I removed the color from the boat so that I could isolate it against the green rolling hills and the blue sky of the Marin County countryside.

Breakers at Pt Reyes

Pt Reyes National Seashore. The north shore of this scenic area has some of the larger waves in the area as it is unprotected as the waves roll in off of the pacific. I really love this part of Northern California as the park is a protected wildlife refuge and a National Seashore. It is truly a treasure for the America just an hour north of San Francisco

Brown Pelican

I found this pelican down along the ocean in La Jolla in Southern California. The bird was nesting on the edge of a cliff overlooking the Pacific Ocean. He/she wasn't very far from where I was at but didn't seem to be worried about my presence.
The look in the pelicans eyes was mesmerizing as it looked up at me.

Water Play

I travel to Yosemite Valley on a regular basis to hike and to shoot photography. Sometimes when I'm not hiking I'll just sit and enjoy the surroundings. This is especially true while waiting for good lighting to capture some of the areas many landmarks.
I spent time searching the river for trout and just enjoying listening to the water rush by. That's when I spotted this little sparkle.

Little Red Corvette
The Chevrolet Corvette is one of my favorite cars.
This 1960 model by todays standards seems slow but for it's time was considered pretty fast.
The base model's 0 to 60 time was a sluggish 8.3 seconds. Fast for it's day but nowhere near the times the modern Vette. But the styling of todays cars don't come anywhere near the curves and chrome of the cars from earlier generations.

Pt Reyes Lighthouse

There are 308 stairs that lead down to the lighthouse and the lighthouse is 37 feet above sea level. The Point Reyes Lighthouse is the windiest and foggiest on the west coast. The station is often blanketed by weeklong periods of fog.
This particular overlook is also very popular with whale watchers. Spring and fall are the best time to see whales here.

The Pt Reyes Lighthouse

The Pt. Reyes Lighthouse sits on the Northwestern Point of Pt. Reyes National Seashore in Marin County a little over an hour and a half north of San Francisco. The lighthouse wouldn't be so special if it didn't sit on the piece of real estate that it sits on.
To get out to the lighthouse a person must first walk down 300+ steps to get to the building.

Big Red Barn at Cross Village

Near the northern tip of Michigan's Lower Peninsula in Emmet County is a small town by the name of Cross Village. Cross Village completes then northern end of the Tunnel of Trees on M119.
I found this old barn about a mile outside of Cross Village. The classic lines and deep red really drew me to it.

Red Barn Near Moose Jaw Junction

I spent ten years in Northern Michigan in my teen years and I spent time in many of my friends barns. These were great hangouts for kids.
In this case I really liked the color of the overall scene with the green grass in the foreground and the blue sky in the background seems to be a perfect setting for a nice red barn.

Grand Hotel - Mackinac Island

The beautiful and historic Grand Hotel sits on a hill on Mackinac Island on Lake Huron overlooking the Straits Of Mackinaw in Northern Michigan.
The hotel was built in the later part of the 19th century and markets itself as having the worlds longest porch at 660 ft. in length. The Chevrolet Corvette has always been one of my favorite automobiles. Not completely thrilled with anything from the mid 70's until the early part of this century but now they seem to be back on track with styling and performance.
