  1. With the Matterhorn so close by, the Ober Gabelhorn (4063m) is probably a bit underappreciated, so perfect for a bit of Mountain-Monday-spotlighting.

  7. What an epic view 🤩

This was an amazing moment I was able to enjoy this morning. The tour didn't go as planned so there was plenty of time to watch the capricorns all over the place around this beautiful scenery.

Watching glaciers makes me a bit sad as they're really in bad condition and I am hoping for a strong winter ahead. 🥶❄️❄️❄️❄️❄️❄️❄️❄️

  8. The great Snowdon queue-skipping row – is it really OK to jump the line if you’re not taking a selfie?
    By Guardian Staff

The crowds at the top of Yr Wyddfa, the highest mountain in Wales, are now so huge that seasoned hikers and climbers are simply walking past them. Is everyone just making a mountain out of a molehill?

  9. 3/3
We departed at 6:15. Myself as the guide, my son and a friend of mine. The friend of mine was never on a glacier before and is not used to scrambling so I planned with plenty of spare time. I defined 11am for the latest return point.
We were slow but well within the predefined time frame. The glacier is almost snow free with several crevascres, however it's an easy glacier, mostly almost flat. The final scrambling up to the summit I just did with my son, my friend decided to wait for us as he didn't feel confident enough to do the final scrambling. So we just spent a few minutes at the summit enjoying the views.
Back at the hut we refilled and descended back to Curaglia.

All in all a little bit more than 800m ascend and almost 2000m descent.

Back home at 22:20 - exhausted but happy.

  10. Crowds at Mont Blanc: will hiking soon require reservations?

The Tour du Mont-Blanc is one of Europe’s most popular long-distance hiking routes, a 170-kilometre circuit through France, Italy and Switzerland that some 80 000 people walk each year, creating mounting problems.

  12. Savage Mountain review – inside the record-smashing mountain climb that ruined lives
    By Rachel Aroesti

  14. What an adventure 🤠
We as #AlpSoil_Lab from #EuracResearch set up our highest pitfall traps yet at high #alpine sites at 3300m and 3100m.
These #GLORIA sites are quite steep and challenging to reach, but I can't wait to see the #soilfauna living up there 🔍

  15. On this day, in 1953, Tenzing Norgay and Sir Edmund Hillary became the first human beings to stand on the highest peak on the surface of our planet (and to make it back down Everest safely).

  17. It is the Everest Day on Monday. The mountain was climbed for the first time 70 years ago on this day, when Tenzing Norgay Sherpa and Sir Edmund Hillary stood on its top.
