  1. Crowds at Mont Blanc: will hiking soon require reservations?

The Tour du Mont-Blanc is one of Europe’s most popular long-distance hiking routes, a 170-kilometre circuit through France, Italy and Switzerland that some 80 000 people walk each year, creating mounting problems.

  2. Some snaps from this week's "Arista del Campanitas" scramble.

Feeling inspired, I'm drafting a blog titled "Treading the Fine Line Between Scrambling and Rock Climbing" — exploring that gloriously confusing grey zone where our discipline labels overlap.

First image traces the approximate route; the rest capture the kind of scenery that makes you forget your legs are burning.

  3. What a day yesterday. Lasting memories of that one for sure. Las Campanitas ridge to Veleta. A complex, dramatic route done without fuss or drama. Here's one with Linda at the summit of Salón 3325m with other members of our group scrambling up the right hand ridge

  4. “Why not indeed? ‘Why not?’ is a motto, by the way, to which I became attached at a very early age.”

  6. Six action-packed days in the mountains! Overcrowded mountain huts, little sleep, physical exertion at over 3000 metres — it's an incredible experience! Why? Because sunrises in the mountains are magical, I was able to climb a 4000-metre peak again, make new friends and push my own limits. I'm tired, but I would be ready to get going again right away!

    But it's raining today... 😉

  7. What an adventure 🤠
We as #AlpSoil_Lab from #EuracResearch set up our highest pitfall traps yet at high #alpine sites at 3300m and 3100m.
These #GLORIA sites are quite steep and challenging to reach, but I can't wait to see the #soilfauna living up there 🔍

  8. On this day, in 1953, Tenzing Norgay and Sir Edmund Hillary became the first human beings to stand on the highest peak on the surface of our planet (and to make it back down Everest safely).

  9. Tenzing Norgay claimed that had he known he'd lose 25 pounds during his famous Everest ascent, he'd not have bothered taking his wallet.

  10. It is the Everest Day on Monday. The mountain was climbed for the first time 70 years ago on this day, when Tenzing Norgay Sherpa and Sir Edmund Hillary stood on its top.

This and my many other photographs of the mountain, ready to be licensed or purchased as prints, are available on #PicFair. This one is here: radekkucharski.picfair.com/pic
