Toronto's Line 5, referred to as the Eglinton Crosstown, has been open for over 6 months and the general consensus locally is that it's pretty good. This excellent video provides a review of the LRT, including the supporting network, benefits, negatives, and Toronto's overall design philosophy for #PublicTransit. It rightly points out Canada is generally bad at design and is still in love with cars.

When I'm working on a #TravelCanada post I sometimes realize that I don't give Saskatchewan a lot of attention. I apologize to the Saskies in my audience. To celebrate the province's 121st anniversary of joining Canada (Sept 1st, 1905), here are 3 #ProvincialParks that are hidden gems. Apparently it's International Bacon Day - not to be confused with Bacon Lovers Day (August 20th) or National Bacon Day (December 20th). And you are only allowed to celebrate with #Bacon, not Back Bacon or Peameal Bacon. Follow the rules and no one gets hurt.

Yesterday's post on Skyscrapers elicited a response from @wordstitcher asking if a list of old Post Office buildings existed. I couldn't find one but did discover the Heritage Railway Station Act that has saved 150+ stations across Canada. Many are unique "Chateau" styled buildings that are still in use or have been repurposed as libraries or community centres.

If you're interested in the Ontario Line transit project in Toronto, the 15.6 km subway line that will cost $34B, then this post is for you. The line will bring 15 new stations to the city, reducing congestion and improving access. This documentary provides some history, an excellent overview of the entire project, and explains a little bit about how Ford's policies have contributed to tripling the original budget.

Happy #Festivus everyone. I'm looking forward to the airing of grievances and performing feats of strength later today. But we also have to celebrate National Christmas Movie Marathon Day on December 23rd. Our pickings are slim if you want to limit yourself to Canadian classics of this holiday season. Sure, virtually every #Hallmak movie is filmed in Canada, apparently with variations of a single plot, but they don't count. Here's a list of 5 Canadian films provided by CBC to get you started and you can provide a community service by suggesting other titles for your fellow Canucks. For example, Uncle Buck feels like a Christmas movie solely because of John Candy. When your list is ready, you can wrap yourself in a Hudson's Bay blanket, munch on some Nanaimo Bars, and binge watch your favourites.
