Good Morning #Canada
The long range forecast for the eastern half of Canada reports that we can expect a longer fall and a delayed start to winter. That means plenty of time for a #RoadTrip and some out of this world #BigStuffInSmallTowns. Welcome to Moonbeam Ontario where a #UFO has landed, and is still there. The saucer is only 3 metres high which means the green men or women are little. Cannabis recommended while visiting.#CanadaIsAwesome #Immigration

Good Morning #Canada
25 years ago, as the USA was under terrorist attack, Canada stepped up to accept 230+ international flights across the country and provide accommodation and food for over 30,000 travellers, many of whom were Americans. Gander became the most famous host as the small town of less than 10,000 took in 6,100 stranded passengers. But that compassion was evident across Canada.#CanadaIsAwesome #CanadianHeroes #September11

Toronto's Line 5, referred to as the Eglinton Crosstown, has been open for over 6 months and the general consensus locally is that it's pretty good. This excellent video provides a review of the LRT, including the supporting network, benefits, negatives, and Toronto's overall design philosophy for #PublicTransit. It rightly points out Canada is generally bad at design and is still in love with cars.#CanadaIsAwesome #UrbanDesign #WalkableCities.

After recently moving to Belle Ewart (Bell You-wart), I find myself making strange pronunciations of my town to see people's reactions. Life is short... take pleasure where you can. But if you're a Canadian living in one of the towns mentioned in this CBC article, do you proudly tell people where you live, or do you mumble the answer and hope no one responds. I think you embrace the fun and show pride in your community by investing in t-shirts and hats emblazoned with your town name. But that's just me - some old retired guy with no reputation worth saving.
BTW, if you're looking for a conversation starter, here's a Geographic Fact - the distance between Dildo Newfoundland and Climax Saskatchewan is 5,551 km, about 2 days and 16 hours by car.#CanadaIsAwesome #CivicPride

Some mornings, I wake up and struggle to find material for this daily post. I'm sure something or somebody was or is interesting, but maybe the subject doesn't speak to me like beaver stories or #BigStuffInSmallTowns. But then you remember that approx 13,820 days ago, the Montreal band The Box released Closer Together, and it could be our rallying cry in these turbulent times. Or it's just 80s cool.#CanadaIsAwesome #CanadianMusic #TurnItUp
