The High Tatras are a granite island in Central Europe, sculpted by Pleistocene glaciers. These jagged peaks contrast with wind-blown snow, marking a landscape where mountaineering traditions date back over a century. Human silhouettes appear as tiny dots against the prehistoric rock of Poland’s only alpine range.

Reading discussions about yesterday's Grossglockner news (about the Austrian whose girlfriend died of hypothermia close to the peak of Grossglockner in january and who has now been charged with grossly negligent homicide) I think that maybe we have to remind people that:
- It's a 3798 m mountain (12 460 feet). It's dangerous in a windy winter night, but it's not the Mount Everest death zone when it comes to height and oxygen and the risk of high altitude sickness. Don't know why people would bring up Everest as a comparison.
- It's absolutely not relevant what the law says in other countries or what the law "typically" says in someone's opinion. It's only Austrian law that matters here.
- Just because other people were murdered in the mountains doesn't mean that was the case here. The case was investigated and the authorities decided to indict him for grossly negligent homicide so they don't think there was an intention behind it.

CW: climbing accident (fatalities)
Wow. Really bad climbing accident out in Washington at the North Early Winters Spire, three people died when a rappel anchor failed and they all fell down a steep couloir. On the face of it, strikingly similar to the infamous Sharkfin Tower tragedy back in 2005 which also killed three people.

They say there is no help in the death zone but sometimes there is:
Lukas Wörle from Austria gets high civilian award from Pakistan for his life-saving actions on Broad Peak in 2023.
Murtaza Sadpara (Pakistan), who worked as a high altitude porter, fell ill with high altitude sickness at 8000m. When Wörle discovered him (alone), Sadpara was conscious but couldn't tell him his name. Wörle shoved, pulled, and rappelled him down. Halfway down on the way to camp 3 he came across Dan Buonome (USA) and another porter, they provided medication and oxygen [Was not able to find the name of this porter].
Wörle and Buonome brought Sadpara down to Camp 3. Sadpara survived and lost several fingers to severe frostbite. He had not been able to afford oxygen or high-quality gloves. He says his clients lost sight of him while others accuse them of leaving him behind.https://explorersweb.com/broad-peak-rescue/

I must communicate
I learned that the best projects grow organically at their own pace, and how terribly important all partnerships are. I have always had a ton of ideas, more than I could ever follow upon or make happen. So much of my dreaming and visioning was all in my own heart and mind. It was not that easy to share it. I have finally learned that I must communicate, (try that when you can’t talk.)
