The Pferchfeldmassiv in #palatinate has some really sweet #sandstone #climbing - perfect for a lazy Sunday afternoon, with very diverse routes even in lower grades.

This was the first time I've climbed an outdoor route twice, and it makes such a difference! Two others struggled quite a bit, and despite me being weaker I was able to just run through the cruxes both times 🥳. Since I'm always unsure about my climbing strength and level, that felt reassuring ☺️.

"Halfway up The Nose of El Capitan is one of the wildest pendulums in existence"--it's called the King Swing! I shot this way back in 2015 with my Sony a6000 (a CMOS sensor camera) and a 70-200mm lens for a 35mm equivalent of 300mm. Still, it's cropped waaay in. The climber's goal is seen in the fourth frame, grabbing onto a crack in the rock face so they may continue their climb up The Nose and to the top.

Metanoia is now available on youtube. Jeff Lowe was truly a man who redefined #climbing. The movie is about his legendary 9 days !! solo pitch on Eiger north face in 1991.

It took 25 years until this climb was repeated by Huber, Schäli and Siegrist.

But the story of Jeff is so much more than his outstanding alpinism. Suffering from ALS he kept his spirit even while he was no longer able to climb until his death in 2018.

Last video from the Gower series ("Oh, Goody!", I hear you cry!) and the last day of the trip; feeling a little thrashed... A few fairly easy climbs back at the Three Sisters to finish off a great trip, including this one. It's not as good a route as Scissor Sister next to it, or even Sister of Pain on the other side, but it was a fun route to end on. Thanks to Helen, Alesia, and Sarah for company and belays and especially to Sarah for doing all the organising!

Castaway cove has is possibly the most photogenic cove on Rhossili beach with some fantastic routes in it, and I've done quite a few now; this is the hardest so far and lives up to the great movement of the others. The only problem with Rhossili is you're always racing the tide and this was a quick pit-stop on the way back from Mermaid - the last route of the day. Thanks go to Alesia for the spotting attempt as I wheel-spinned my way up to the rather high first bolt - from my perspective it didn't feel quite as sketchy as it looked (I'd actually allowed for possible barnacle-related foot-slippage with very good hands), but it was definitely a hairier start than I'd imagined! Looks like I'm running out of excuses to not try the harder routes in the cove next time I get there!

Climbing the wall of Sambuco dam with @biglepas. We were all alone and the temperature was perfect – both quite unexpected for a Sunday with 32 °C in Locarno!

It's a fun, easy route, ideal for showing someone the basics of multi-pitch climbing. And as a bonus, one can abseil down the whole 102 m of the wall afterwards 😊

Finally got to B-Pump in Tokyo. It's bigger than anything in Australia, but I gotta say, the bouldering gyms in Melbourne beat it in lots of ways. Spoogy holds, OK but not brilliant setting, and the facilities were pretty poor. My gym in Melbourne has a sauna, weights gym, and three types of water on tap, at B-Pump there aren't even showers and you have to buy water from a vending machine.

Next up from Sister 2.5 on the Gower is "Schmills and Boon" on the tiny, top section of the area. A short, little number with an obvious (though not to read apparently) crux that packs a punch... Didn't help that when I actually sent it, I was crimping on some sort of vegetation that was gradually sliming my hand off the hold. Thanks go to Helen for a solid catch and putting up with me faffing around with the start a lot.
