She did not get much support from the Democratic Party because the establishment believed that she would lose to Abbott. The same happened to Beto O'Rourke four years ago. But the timing was wrong for him. Yet he created the grassroot network that was one of the reasons that helped Gina won this time.

I live in #Texas and we have a lot of #racists. 😞

Many voted for #Obama in 2008 b/c they thought he'd fail and we'd never elect another black president. Instead, he did a great job and we re-elected him, which REALLY pissed them off and gave us T**** (only to watch him fail miserably.)

I'm getting those same vibes from this #BlueTsunami, with them voting for people they vilified as #Socialists, hoping they'll fail miserably, and prove #DonnieDumbass right.

The Lt. Governor has vast powers as the President of the Texas Senate, directing who gets put on what committees, which committees legislation gets referred to, and what gets scheduled.

The Texas Senate, still Republican for now, is trying to change the Senate Rules so that the Lt. Governor's position is ceremonial and not active in legislation activities.
