  1. The #corporate #socialists are attacking the #Democratic party for eulogizing #Lindsey #Graham It's funny how these frauds are always railing against the only non fascist party in America.

Where was this energy when Bernie was being all friendly with this fascist? Going on Fox News and proudly denouncing "defund the police."

  5. All you Anarcho- #communists or Uber- #socialists or self righteous whatevers who live in countries with a #parliamentary system that allows you to vote for your impotent fringe party WHICH WILL NEVER RULE YOUR COUNTRY, how nice for you. We don't have that luxury (privilege) in the #US. Our system could be better, but not by demolishing it and hoping something idyllic grows out of the ashes. That is a fucking ridiculous pipe dream. If the US quasi- #democracy crumbles completely, it will be replaced by all those #corporations you hate so much, and they will have the US #military at their disposal, and you will be fucked. The ONLY way the USA gets better is by the US #electorate making educated choices. Our system is designed to change slowly, as it should be. It is people who want everything now who are holding us back. Even the best of the Left understand that. Listen to #Mamdani, #OcasioCortez, #Sanders et al. They learned how the system works instead of staying home and whining.

  20. It was already near impossible to get fair access to primaries. Now both parties are changing to closed #primaries.
This is why I joined DSA (Democratic #Socialists of Amer), because we run on the Dem ticket.
There's no way in my lifetime the two party system will give up its control - we need #RankedChoiceVoting to make #Congress look more like #Parliament.
Exhaustive article, repeats #poll results saying ~76% of us prefer #compromise over #gridlock.

  25. To whoever still believes the Venezuelan crisis is a product of economic sanctions by the US and other countries:

This regime could (and did, and does) still trade oil and other products by both legal and illegal mechanisms (just like North Korea).

Nobody could build the huge deluxe mansions, the hundreds of ghost companies, the tons of police stations and imprisonment buildings, the Gestapo-like intelligence service, and the (usually empty) stadiums they've built...

Unless they're a corrupted dictatorship that steals billions of dollars every year while we have no power, daily water supply cuts, die of curable diseases, and starve every day.

Yes, imperialism is cancer. Yes, the sanctions are a violation of international law. Yes, the US government has always wanted our oil. And yes, we should dethrone this thugs ourselves.

But that doesn't mean you should support these people just because you don't like the orange bully in the White House. I literally don't support any of both sides, and that's okay.

Oh, you didn't know about the mansions and luxuries I mentioned above? Read about it.

Isn't freedom what you defend? Think about it.

  27. To all the anti-#moderate, all or nothing, my way or the highway #Democrats, #liberals, #socialists, or just plain #anarchists out there - Until you find a way to bring an overwhelming majority of our diverse #country into your camp, nothing you want will be accomplished, and all your performative posturing and pontificating will be hot air. #Revolution ain't happening. Overnight #political #change ain't happening. Right now, you are just a drag on the already slow moving wheels of #progress.

  31. @Veza85UE

Goddamit, it's such a shame to see Yanis Varoufakis simping for putin.

#europe has not "decided" to treat putin as "the new Hitler". putin decided to be the new Hitler.
When bad people tell you who they are, you have to listen, putins rambling 2-3 hour speeches clearly spell out his ambitions. Enslave the countries of #easterneurope . His TV puppets go even further, wishing #russian tanks to keep going until stop in #Barcelona Thanks to Euro support, it's russian quad bikes and donkeys, not tanks now.

#yanisvaroufakis is a smart man, so he knows this. As does Europe, they understand the "forever war" is a war of choice for putin. If #ukraine falls, #baltics will be next.

Why do some #socialists simp for a totalitarian satrap I'll never understand.

    Fuck Varoufakis.

Edit: God, the more you read of that Varoufakis drivel, the more you realise he's just a putins whore (with apologies to hard working sex workers).
I'm so glad I did not end up buying his books.

    How to Read the Genealogy

    1. Rousseau & Romanticism β€” the emotional and moral root system

Rousseau and the early Romantic movement sit at the same level because they are essentially two expressions of the same worldview. Rousseau provides the philosophical core; Romanticism turns it into a cultural force.

Together they supply the soil from which later ideologies grow:

    • authenticity over rationalism
    • the natural self as morally pure
    • suspicion of civilisation and modernity
    • the heroic individual
    • the Volk as an organic cultural community (Johann Gottfried Herder’s contribution)
    • emotion as a guide to truth

This is the pre‑ideological foundation that later thinkers will systematise, politicise, or weaponise.

    2. Kant β€” the bridge from Romantic sentiment to philosophical structure

Immanuel Kant is not a Romantic, but he provides the crucial intellectual machinery that makes German Idealism possible:

    • the transcendental subject
    • the limits of empirical reason
    • the autonomy of the moral will
    • the distinction between appearance and reality

Kant gives later thinkers the architecture they need to turn Romantic intuitions into philosophical systems.

    3. Fichte & Early German Idealism β€” the nationalist and voluntarist turn

Fichte stands at the same level as Early German Idealism because he is its first full expression. He radicalises Kant and fuses him with Romantic nationalism.

    Fichte introduces:

    • the self (β€œI”) as world‑creating
    • struggle as the engine of moral development
    • the State as educator and moral shaper
    • the Volk as a spiritual community defined by language and culture
    • the idea that national unity is a moral imperative

This is why the National Socialists later mined him so heavily: he provides a philosophical justification for unity, struggle, and State supremacy without the Marxist baggage attached to Hegel.

    4. Schelling β€” the Romantic metaphysician

Schelling blends Romanticism and Idealism into a metaphysics of nature:

    • nature as living Spirit
    • the unity of mind and world
    • the aesthetic as a path to truth

He is the bridge between Fichte’s voluntarism and Hegel’s system‑building.

    5. Hegel β€” the system‑builder of history and the State

Hegel takes the entire Romantic–Idealist inheritance and turns it into a grand historical machine:

    • the dialectic
    • Spirit unfolding through conflict
    • history as rational development
    • the State as the embodiment of ethical life
    • freedom as recognition within institutions

Hegel is the pivot point. From him, the ideological branches diverge.

    • Marx takes Hegel’s dialectic and flips it upside down: materialism instead of Spirit, class instead of consciousness.
    • National Socialists reject Hegel because Marx used him, turning instead to Fichte and Herder.
    • Fascists borrow the Romantic–voluntarist elements (myth, will, unity) without the metaphysical system.

    6. The Three Ideological Descendants

    Marxism

    • class struggle
    • materialism
    • historical determinism
    • the dialectic inverted
    • the State as instrument of class rule

Marxism is Hegel without Spirit, Romanticism without the individual, and Fichte without the nation.

    National Socialism

    • racial struggle
    • Volk as biological destiny
    • State supremacy
    • unity through exclusion
    • Fichtean nationalism + Herderian cultural unity

Nazism is Fichte radicalised, Herder racialised, and Romanticism weaponised.

    Fascism

    • myth
    • will
    • unity
    • anti‑liberal modernism
    • the State as a living organism

Fascism is Romanticism without Rousseau, Fichte without metaphysics, and Hegel with the β€œcorrect” dialectic.

    7. The Big Picture

All three ideologies β€” Marxism, National Socialism, and Fascism β€” draw from the same Romantic–Idealist well, but each selects different ingredients:

    • Marxism takes Hegel’s dialectic and Rousseau’s egalitarian moralism.
    • National Socialism takes Fichte’s nationalism and Herder’s Volk metaphysics.
    • Fascism takes Romantic will, myth, and the unified State.

They are siblings, not strangers β€” born from the same intellectual family, but raised in different political households.

  34. I was out door-knocking with the Victorian Socialists in Broadmeadows this afternoon.

Lots of interesting conversations with people in the area. Many people that said "I'm not really in to politics" that were very in to politics when asked what they are concerned about and what is important to them.
