Really enjoyed this. Very Becky Chambers. Lovely characters, interesting world-building, humanity and gentleness. Can’t wait to finish the story whenever the sequel comes out. ★★★★☆

@salsagal Use my #appleNewton as daily note taker - get one of the last two modals (2x00) and it just about connects to WiFI still, so emailing back and forth when I need to works.

Wired transfers are totally a thing too, if you'd rather be fully off grid with it.

I used to have a Palm TX too, but it was a little small when it was only ever say on my desk. Again, WiFI on that worked for getting things on and off

Overall, I really feel that #Android calendar approach is quite broken as soon as one steps away from Google. Maybe I'm having extremely bad luck, but my phone roughly once in 3–12 months bork up #caldav sync and I need to remove subs and reattach all anew. On PC its been fine for ages, I've jumped between various calendar providers, subscribed to friends Google-based .ics, and it is fine. Android? Don't you dare to assume that if your nextcloud was restored from backup, sync will resume fully.

I have a strange problem with Firefox that is driving me completely nuts.

And I think I need someone to help me see the obvious.

    I am using Firefox 158.0.1 (aarch64) with Firefox Multi-Account Containers 8.3.8.

I have a web site that won't open if I am not inside a container. And I have no clue why.

Firefox says: "The page isn’t redirecting properly" when opening without a container.

But if I open the same web page inside a container, it opens without any problem. It doesn't matter which container I use. Any will do.

I use the containers only to separate cookies. I never did anything to the settings. With another browser or curl, the web site doesn't do any redirect.

    Hardest question for me;
    "What do you want?"

    If I separate want from need, then answers flow freely, I don't really need anything but want a lot;

    I want -
to learn to fly small aircraft,
    to learn several languages,
to produce the three solo music albums to what I hear in my head,
to expand the known universe of possibility for my wife & I,
to teach people how to educate themselves,
& to encourage people to take an active role in self-governance,
& to learn how to socialize again.

Ukraine's human rights commissioner: No incidents in Oleshky since ceasefire began 30 hours ago

Dmytro Lubinets, Ukraine's Parliamentary Commissioner for Human Rights, has said that no incidents have been reported in the temporarily occupied city of Oleshky since a ceasefire began 30 hours ago.

    Source: Lubinets on social media

Quote: "Thirty hours of a ceasefire in Oleshky without a single incident. This was made possible, in part, by constant communication between me and Russia's human rights commissioner, Yana Lantratova. We remain in contact and are coordinating the implementation of the agreements reached."

Details: Lubinets thanked US First Lady Melania Trump for her involvement in the humanitarian mission and assistance to civilians in Oleshky. He said her direct involvement and the coordination of efforts between the parties were important elements of the process.

The human rights commissioner also thanked her team for its support and continued communication.

He stressed that the shared goal was to provide assistance to Oleshky's civilian population and create conditions for the safe evacuation of those who needed it.

Previously: On 27 October, Lubinets reported that, as of 17:30, Ukraine and Russia were fully complying with the ceasefire agreements in designated areas related to the humanitarian mission. No violations of the ceasefire by either side had been recorded at that point.

    Background:

    • On 23 October, the White House announced that Melania Trump had secured a ceasefire agreement between Russia and Ukraine in the temporarily occupied city of Oleshky, where a humanitarian disaster is currently unfolding.

    • Lubinets announced the start of the ceasefire in the Oleshky area from 03:00 Kyiv time on 27 October. Russia's Defence Ministry confirmed that the ceasefire has been introduced.

    • The ceasefire is scheduled to remain in effect until 22:59 on 1 November.

    $0/$2,600

Hii. I'm sorry to ask this again, just, I'm gonna put it back up here since donations would actually really help. Basically, I'm really in debt, and it's just a huge struggle and holding me back tbh -w-. And I don't know. Sure, a lot of it might just be my fault, but at this point I've just fallen into the debt cycle and it's super super super hard to get out of. I just want a fresh start. And like, it's not an urgent need, and I'm fine rm, just, if anyone does actually have some money to spare, it would help me so much.

Basically, I currently still have about $1,100 of medical debt from my visit to the E.R. earlier this year, plus about $1,500 on my credit card still. I'm paying off what I can afford, but it's just really hard, I really don't make much. I've been in this debt cycle for so long.

I'll put a goal in here just to see the progress of the fedi donations, but, of course I'm still trying to pay off what I can on my own.

I have all the payment methods I can take in this post: https://ck.catwithaclari.net/notes/asc3c2q1bx560jvm

Thank you for reading and boosting. Don't give if you can't or need it more yourself, however if you chose to give it's really appreciated and it helps me so much :neofox_angel_pleading::neofox_heart:

    NEARLY MYSELF AGAIN 💎

I’ve been quiet for a while now.

About a month ago, I had a bad fall in the night and hit the bedside table on the way down. I ended up with a badly bruised kidney, a sore back, and an ear that was cut badly enough to need gluing back together.

I’ve spent most of the past three or four weeks lying low and recovering.

I’m getting back on my feet now. I’ve kept up my fasting & breathwork throughout, and I’ve started walking again after lunch, just a little for now. I’ll increase it as I get my mojo back.

So that’s where I’ve been. Still here. Just recovering.

You have to change the entire economic system because this nonsense will keep happening until you find yourselves without a country because it has already been sold. Only if you adopt stricter policies and approaches that prioritize the public interest over private interests, I'm not saying make Karl Marx proud, but you need to find a middle ground amidst this extreme nonsense.

I'm going to strip it for the base, handle and wheels so I can make my partner a leather suitcase for Christmas. I was going to make him a large duffle but anyone can do that. I wheeled it all over the store to make sure the hardware works well. #thrift #recycle #reuse #restore #repurpose
