In June this year right after my black and white photo project about leading lines and shapes created by Mother Nature a small photo project will be presented.
>>Flowers of Thailand<<
Is there a catch? Yes it is....I'm planning (hoping) that Mastodont users will help me to add names to these flowers :)
I'm an ignorant in this matter :)#flowers #photoproject #nature #travel #Thailand #userfriendly

Ah, the latest in API documentation, because nothing screams "user-friendly" like a 157-step guide to "Your First API Call" 🤦♂️. #DeepSeek v4 promises compatibility with #OpenAIAnthropic (whatever that means), but it's basically just a choose-your-own-adventure for APIs, minus the adventure. 🚀✨

@xabean I haven't heard that name in a long time. That's sad though. I hung out in the #userfriendly channel on IRC once upon a time. Good community there.

"GrapheneOS chose their requirements and they can happily design their own platform instead."
There's no need to reinvent the wheel. AOSP is a secure, open-source platform that has been around for almost 20 years. I don't want to debate rumors that Google wants to make AOSP proprietary because there is no evidence to support this, especially since it would not benefit them in any way.
"I just think that their stubbornness"
It's not stubborness and I explained why.
"They are the antithesis to #Tails when it comes to #UserFriendly-ness and approachability for #Normies and #TechIlliterates
It's probably the first time I've seen “Tails” and “Normie” in the same sentence, It's not that Tails is difficult to use, but I'm really not sure that many “normies” use it or even know it exists. The user experience on GrapheneOS is almost identical to Pixel OS, the standard operating system for Google Pixel devices, so using GrapheneOS is likely to seem much simpler and familiar to normies, as they will already be used to it.
"Espechally since the problems woth #MobilePhones and the underlying technology ain't fixable with an #AndroidROM
GrapheneOS is not a ROM, Pixel OS is not a ROM, and LineageOS is not a ROM either, theses operating systems are not ROMs.
"Instead we need to foster a #SecurityCulture and proper #ITsec, #InfoSec, #OpSec & #comsec
Indeed, and what GrapheneOS does about security is completely appropriate, including informing people and giving them good advice.
"Otherwise we'll see them fail the same way @signalapp did, which is eitger getting shut down (#EncroChat-style) or being uncovered as a controlled opposition / honeypot (like #ANØM aka. #OperationIronside aka. #OperationTrøjanShield)…"
Signal did not fail, and mentioning Encrochat, ANON, and honeypots in the same sentence is irrelevant. These things have absolutely nothing in common with Signal, you seem to be believing made-up stories.

@lproven @ashiisbest @sysedit OK, went through it.
You're right for the most part.
However, I don't think that Emacs should compete with tech that is currently hyped & gone in a couple of years.
I don't think that Emacs should even adapt to UI standards as you ask for.
Not because those standards are bad. I like them as well as you & they did make tech much more #userfriendly for ordinary people.
Emacs should not adapt because it would fundamentally change the Emacs universe which is working pretty well (nothing in your article seems to reflect that notion) if you accept to be in a totally different universe when your window focus is within #Emacs.
Yes, it may look ancient when you start it in default settings. Yes, the OOTB experience is not for non-tech people.
However, if you can convince yourself to dive into that completely different world (it predates almost all those standards you're mentioning), you will be rewarded with something nothing(!) can provide you elsewhere.

@nitrokey Thanks for the awesome Black Friday deals on open-source hardware—perfect timing!
I'm looking for a convenient way to help my less technical friends and relatives step up their digital security.
Now, here’s a question:
🔐 I’m looking for the most user-friendly Nitrokey to recommend to folks who aren’t tech-savvy.
Bonus points if it works well with iOS and macOS (for those still transitioning 😉).What’s your go-to recommendation?

Regarding the #logo, there's still enough time for them to #change it, as the #release is planned for #2026. After all, they're #communityBased, no? Thus, they should #listen to their #users…
