You don't have to bootstrap Debian from a live system to use Btrfs. You don't need any "wizardry". Install Debian with its installer on Btrfs.

I had a reminder why I don't use #Microsoft #Windows. Did a fresh #install of Windows 11 Home edition on Dad's laptop today and it took around 3 hours just for the install, not including setting up applications and other settings he is used to.

Compare that with the Arch Linux install I did on the same machine in order to test the hardware that took around 20 minutes, and was immediately configured. Unlike the at least 6 reboots Windows required, each taking 10's of minutes at least to "install updates", or "configuring system" with absolutely no indication of what it was actually doing. The last restart had already taken 35 minutes before I gave up and had to leave for the day.

Additionally, I swear the Windows install was only using 1 core out of the 8 cores on that processor since the system fan never once spun up during installation.
