  1. 🎩 Ah, yes, because nothing screams cutting-edge AI like dusting off a '70s #minicomputer and feeding it paper tape. 💾 It's as if someone thought, "Why build a rocket when we can reinvent the wheel with stone tools?" 🚀🔨

  6. Spent some time this monday preparing the machine including installing 2.11BSD to the M2322 hard drive, as my DIY disk emulator showed some reliability issues at #why2025 . I'm still in the process of applying the latest updates to the system, as rebuilding kernels and part of the userland on a 1MB RAM, less than 1 MIPS system takes a fair bit of time.

Once I'm done updating the system, it will be at patch level 499 - the latest available for #211bsd , released on January 14th 2026!

If you want to play around with this system, visit the open day at RevSpace The Hague next saturday:
    revspace.nl/OpenDag2026

I will be attaching a few physical terminals to it (including a VT55 and VT100!) as well as allowing telnet from the local network.

Besides this, if you do visit and want to trade PDP-11 parts, I have a large collection of mostly QBUS cards that I want to part with, and am looking for PDP-11/84 (PMI) and PDP-11/44 (EUB) memory boards as well as spare CPU cards for the /44.

Your Schematics are pretty easy to read. I like them a lot. One can clearly see that a lot of work and dedication went into the project. Thanks for sharing. I am thinking of using a somewhat different architecture but the building blocks are the same. I think I might copy a bit off your work ^^

  25. This is how I design a modular modular case the old school way ...

These boxes are cheap sturdy and standardized. You can get a coaster roller for them. Standing on The small side they make nice cabinets to be displayed on a con table.
    60x40x22 cm
Put in a little wooden framing and a transparent lid. Should be around 35 bucks a case. Simple to build.
Using discrete logic modules 10x10 cm, point to point wiring, cheap VGA cables for box connect

    What do you think?

  29. Question:
    Can someone recommend a #headless #portable #MiniComputer?

I’m looking for something I can plug my #xreal One Pro glasses in and browse the web, read feeds and use mastodon.
I tried iPhone and iPad but found it cumbersome to control them without touch screen.
I’m thinking of using a small Bluetooth keyboard or game controller instead of touch.

  33. I've put a gallery of photos I took during the INIT HELLO Apple II conference at the System Source Computer Museum this past weekend online for anyone who might like a look at some of the festivities.

What a wonderful time it was! Can't wait for next year!
