Finished cleaning the #WYSE 60 #Terminal keyboard. It's heavily yellowed and has two cigarette burn marks, but that's fine. It's 39 years old after all.

Next is cleaning the terminal itself.

@occult Bloody hell, I loved those #Wyse terminals. I'd love to get my hands on one now. Obviously we won't be needing keyboards in 2029, but those were nice too.

Yesterday I spend a day trying to hack this WYSE WT3235LE terminal.

It has a cool GEODE GX1 CPU!

I was able to push some binary to the system. One version even did a beep via pc speaker!

There is so little information on the internet about it that it is a lot of try-and-error.

Will be back to this in the future.

So I am running a #Tor "farm" at home. It had consisted of 2 older #Wyse Terminals running #Ubuntu Server Minimized. One server was a #obfs4 bridge and the other was a #Snowflake proxy server.

I decided to port these machines to VMs running Ubuntu 24.04 & ran into some issues. On a whim, I decided to spin up a #Debian VM for the #obfs4 bridge last night, fully expecting to wake up to an issue this morning. I was wrong. The bridge is online & appears to be working. It was always a fight with Ubuntu, not the case with Debian.

So I spun up another Debian VM for the Snowflake proxy & it now also online and working 100%.

All hail Debian???

#Ireland-based #RetroComputing and #VintageComputing folks might be interested in a stash of #IBM, #DEC, #Wyse and other #mainframe and #minicomputer #GreenScreen #terminals, most dating from the 1980s and 1990s (without keyboards, unfortunately), as well as copious sealed #Windows95 CDs ("with USB support"), sealed 3½ inch #FloppyDisks, sealed and unsealed memory modules in the tens of megabytes range, sealed IBM branded PS/2 ball mice, vintage toner cartridges and ink ribbons. There's a single #Amstrad monitor for use with the #CPC454, an intriguing #Apricot-branded machine and some VGA-era monitors. Many of them will need work. There's a functioning #Windows98 machine.

My #Tor setup consists on a single #obfs4 Relay Bridge and two #Snowflake proxy servers. All running minimized installs of #Ubuntu. They are all running on #Wyse terminals to boot!

Showing my age here, but every time I see the Wyze Camera cock-up I need to forget Wyse Terminals and think Cameras - And it seems like everyone are sharing that story again and again and again and...

Finally finished the last piece of the hardware flow control puzzle for my Wyse Wy-55. It now supports full 115200 baud, which makes it possible to experience the Fedi Fire Hose.

@dpflug @ajroach42 @beto As the original author of #OfflineIMAP, it's always fun to see it mentioned. I'm no longer an active developer on the project, but I still use it for all my mail.

Speaking of which, my other suggestions are #Emacs and #mu4e. #screen also; it's one of the few things that works well with the XON/XOFF that some real vt220 and such require. I do own a #Wyse WY55, #DEC vt220, vt420, and vt510 and periodically work from them. Amazing focus mode.
