Unfortunately, he is not alone in not knowing this. But some do know and still keep using #Mercator. Why? (I do have a guess, #Greenland is not the only country bloated disproportionately in size).
Boycot Mercator maps. There is no "correct projection," but few are as bad as Mercator (unless you are doing navigational charts, of course).
