    • I am NOT associated with HR/recruiting in ANY way
    • Therefore, these are NOT endorsements, and there are no ‘referrals’ or the like for me
    • I am simply sharing SOME roles I have seen – in the hope that they are of use to someone
    • As such, I am not (and indeed can not) in any way ‘vet’ these roles (i.e., you are advised to conduct your own due diligence due to hideous, potential risks like fraudulent postings, ‘ghost jobs’, résumé/ATS ‘improvement’ scammers, etc)
    • Further, roles listed are in no specific order (i.e., simply as I ‘encountered’ them during the week)
    • There is ZERO cost to access this list of spatial / GIS roles
    • I am not (really) ‘mining’ US Federal government roles - with the ‘hiring freeze’, uncertainty, etc
    • You can subscribe to the (free) weekly LinkedIn newsletter www.linkedin.com/build-relation/newsletter-follow?entityUrn=7397678824928366594 or also for free at earthstuff.Substack.com - if so inclined

  3. I was quite happy while driving back home to see that we have a new episode of the Glad (gladpodcast.podbean.com/e/epis)

A bit sad when I discover it was about "AI" and title "My friend Claude". Yes you have some layers of irony here, I do not know at which one we should stop.

I think it is a great episode to listen if you are curious about what is going on in some (what %?) academic mind related to it.

  5. Hey, #askfedi ! And maybe #gischat ?

I know that EXIF data can hold coordinates. Is there something similar for a geographic extent? Like, if I had an old map, could the file itself tell me roughly what area it covers, not just the x/y of its center?

I probably just need a proper database with a column for the extent shape, don't I?

  9. RE: mstdn.io/@jomo/117077095785506

Hey #Mapstodon and #OSM people! A researcher from Berlin is looking into possible improvements for navigation software to help against the decline in spatial orientation skills by using visible landmarks for navigation.

Can mental mapping work reduce the chance of Alzheimers?

The especially low rates Alzheimers in taxi drivers suggest it might.
