This dictionary has sat unused for decades since I bought it. Of its 3 languages I can more or less read two. But the words are given first in the 1 I CAN'T, so it's has been largely useless to me for ~20 years. I have the app, which gets around that problem, but that I am now #Reading or at least recognising enough #Urdu letters to USE this book is very exciting.
As is looking at the words on this list and being able to 'reverse engineer' them. Every single one of these Urdu phrases is ~100% the same in #Hindi so when I say the Hindi out loud, I can dissect the Urdu and now identify many of the individual letters. That at least SOME of Urdu's (beautiful) squiggly scrawls are starting to register as actual letters is the sort of #LanguageLearning dopamine hit we all love, and, as the third image says "I am very happy"
That image also shows why I'm trying. The words are EXACTLY the same, showing how close the estranged siblings are, but the Urdu script is GORGEOUS😍
