The 150th illustration in the #storySeedLibrary comes from @the_lemonaut and represents something largely missing in the #solarpunk visual language so far:

#Solarpunk #Lagos - #ObohMoses
5 August 2026
"Oboh Moses is a Black digital illustrator who has been passionate about art since he was seven years old. In 2021, his work was selected for the American Illustration 40th anniversary annual award book. He lives and works in Lagos, #Nigeria.
This illustration depicts a lively neighborhood in Lagos, Nigeria, reimagined as a thriving solar-powered community. The scene captures an ordinary residential area transformed through the widespread adoption of #renewable energy, offering a glimpse of a future where clean, #sustainable power is part of everyday life.
At first glance, we see numerous solar panels installed on nearly every rooftop, children play football and run freely in the open spaces, residents gather on balconies and verandas to chat with neighbors, watch the activity below, or simply enjoying the day. reinforcing the close-knit nature of the community.
Beyond capturing daily life, this artwork tells the story of an energy transition. It shows how solar power can strengthen local communities by providing reliable electricity, reducing dependence on #FossilFuels and unstable grid power, lowering energy costs, and improving everyday life. Overall, the illustration celebrates a future where clean, renewable energy is accessible to everyone."

At the #storySeedLibrary our latest Collab was to specifically imagine disasters and help us tell stories about them: https://storyseedlibrary.org/tags/2026-collab/
Because when there's a real-life wildfire, flood or a mass blackout there are people dealing with them, experiencing so many things we are not yet equipped to share with each other.
Not in a language that would be understandable by everyone who will soon need them.

Should we have a "Coloring Book Mode" for the #storySeedLibrary ?

RE: https://spore.social/@foundseed/116545214905646682
I've been waiting for this essay from @foundseed - a criticism of #solarpunk as understood from the American / Internet / Punk perspective.
I'm personally not that attached to the label or the "mainstream" parts of the movement.
My own goal is to find a language, a narrative and a set of symbols/hieroglyphs to tell the stories necessary for our survival. Stories happening right now.
That's why I started the #storySeedLibrary .
Maybe Solarpunk isn't_the thing, but I can't see any better one.
The 2026 #solarpunk #art #collaboration is on! For the next 2 months we are exploring the themes of

This time the awesome Xulia Vicente from #spain joins the #storySeedLibrary with her #solarpunk #illustration : https://storyseedlibrary.org/art/xulia-vicente/earth-water-air/
"Solarpunk scene on a sunny wheat field, where some small robots do the harvest while a kid is reading on a woman’s lap. The community works on building wind energy while also having some free time to enjoy themselves. All three elements of the title are reunited and sourced sustainably in the image."
If you like the #solarpunk #illustration s of the #storySeedLibrary you might also enjoy the #renewableEnergy #photo s of https://www.renewableenergyphoto.com/gallery by Dennis Schroeder
They're really awesome.
From what I can see it's all copyrighted, so please don't assume you can use it without asking ;)

What is this? Daniele Turturici created a new beautiful #solarpunk #illustration for the #storySeedLibrary :
"Community Gardens"
https://storyseedlibrary.org/art/daniele-turturici/community-gardens/
Welcome to our 19th century house. She’s 140 years old and she’s been waiting for people who’d take her seriously, which is why I think she chose us more than we chose her.
This is the start of a series on renovating her carefully, slowly, sustainably as much as we can. Posts will happen whenever there’s something worth sharing on this long timeline.
If you also love old houses, I sense we’ll get along.
Thank you #storySeedLibrary for the artwork!
Have you heard about @andrewism 's annual #solarpunk #art Collabs, created to explore different aspects of our #climate future?
A lot of works in the #storySeedLibrary were created thanks to them!
I'm looking into a possible theme for 2026:
Disaster Response and Relief
Away from pristine utopian visions we need to be able to imagine the coming calamities: #flood , #fire , #drought and more.
How can a better society react to them? How can it be utopian?
Speaking about the #storySeedLibrary , what kind of #art would you like to see there next?
We want to focus on the down-to-earth, realistic visions of lived-in futures full of people and communities. #noAI .
Check out https://storyseedlibrary.org/authors/ for a sample of different artists' styles and themes!
