Thanks to the good people at @nlnet and @weblate, I had a chance to dive into building a Gradle plugin and library for the Weblate platform supporting Android apps which should enable them to update their localization resources on the go without making a new release. The API is very simple and project is light-weight. First alpha release, so feedback is appreciated. Builds were submitted today, so may take time to get approved.

FediSuite
Your Fediverse Management Platform
Anyone can now translate FediSuite. I run my own Weblate at weblate.fedisuite.com for it. You create an account and work in your browser, no Git needed. If your language is missing, add it yourself. What you translate arrives as a pull request with me, I read through it and ship it with the next release.
FediSuite currently speaks German, English, Italian, French and Spanish. French and Spanish were not done by native speakers, so it matters that someone checks both and submits corrections. Reviewing existing languages is as welcome as adding new ones.
The web interface, the server messages and the emails can be translated.

Deine Fediverse Management Plattform
FediSuite kann ab sofort jede*r übersetzen. Dafür läuft unter weblate.fedisuite.com ein eigenes Weblate. Du legst dort ein Konto an und arbeitest im Browser, Git brauchst du nicht. Fehlt deine Sprache, fügst du sie selbst hinzu. Was du übersetzt, landet als Pull Request bei mir, ich sehe es durch und übernehme es mit dem nächsten Release.
Aktuell gibt es Deutsch, Englisch, Italienisch, Französisch und Spanisch. Französisch und Spanisch stammen nicht von Muttersprachler*innen, deshalb ist es wichtig, dass jemand die beiden prüft und Korrekturen einreicht. Bestehende Sprachen zu kontrollieren ist also genauso gefragt wie neue hinzuzufügen.
Übersetzen lassen sich die Weboberfläche, die Servermeldungen und die E-Mails.

Na blogu #LibreOffice vyšel článek o jazykových novinkách v LO 26.8 a je zde zvlášť zdůrazněna unikátnost podpory "malých" jazyků - v tomto případě N’Ko and Adlam. Podpora jiných jazyků s malým počtem mluvčích byla přidávána i v minulosti a LibreOffice je desktopový #SW s největším počtem překladů. Aktuálně to činí 120 jazyků, přičemž další se překládají.

K překladům do češtiny se můžete přidat ve #Weblate, který je pohodlně přístupný přes webové rozhraní. -

Se traduciamo la stringa con l’apostrofo attaccato al codice, il link ipertestuale non funziona!
So che è grammaticalmente sbagliato “all’ accordo” (con lo spazio fra apostrofo e vocale) però se continuiamo così la nostra sarà l’unica lingua con il link rotto!

Also not saying that #weblate is /perfect/. "Similar keys" seems nigh-useless, and it would have been nice for it to prioritize the strings so that I'm forced to build up a consistent domain glossary before tackling prose (maybe sort ascending by word count? that does seem to be a thing now that I check! but the ui seems to push you back into the default whenever you go back via the home page…).
Could also very well be that I'm just holding it wrong, of course.

Kinda surprised by how much more trouble I'm having translating #flickboard into my third language (technically my first, but.. atrophy is a bitch >.<).
I was expecting swedish to be a slog already, but #weblate's zen mode made it really smooth to just "word, tab, tab, word, tab, tab, word, tab, tab..." and suddenly it was all gone.

Updating #TraduSquare #Weblate from 5.17 to 2026.8 went fine, but it was a long journey of ~8 hours (we have 800k strings in 21 projects 😲).
Unfortunately we had to disable our custom translation checks as it seems the highlight and render APIs have changed. We will migrate them in the next days... -

I like the small improvements in #software. For a while now, #Weblate now displays the priority of components with these little icons, for priorities from very high (two arrows up), high (one arrow up), normal (nothing), low and very low (downward arrow, 2 downward arrows).
Components already had priorities, but they were invisible and only affected sorting.

About two years in the making, I'm very happy my initial proposal to donate to Weblate paid off. Now the hard part will come over summer: dropping md2po, pulling those markdown files directly into Weblate, and updating our Weblate configuration.
