  1. The things you didn't even know you had to worry about. Watched an #ExplainingComputers video last night on "Secure Boot Certificate Expiry (Windows & Linux)". As best as I can tell, I should be okay since I don't have it active:

    bok@sqr128zena:~$
    sudo mokutil --sb-state
    [sudo] password for bok:
    SecureBoot disabled
    Platform is in Setup Mode

I hope so, since the update command fails:

    bok@sqr128zena:~$ sudo fwupdmgr update
WARNING: UEFI capsule updates not available […]
Devices with no available firmware updates:
    • SPCC M.2 SSD
    • UEFI dbx

I'll see what happens in forty days:

      Not After : Jun 27 21:32:45 2026 GMT

  7. Welcome to another videooh!

Just stumbled over this @pop_os_official review from #ExplainingComputers. I must admit, the cosmic desktop looks far more interesting than I would have expected. Nice job, @system76 !

  8. I\ve seen some interesting stuff being done by #ZorinOS 18:

    youtube.com/watch?v=nplI2lvKu94 by Christopher Barnatt #ExplainingComputers

    youtube.com/watch?v=ni-JXsp0Vtw by #SavvyNik

I think we could learn some things about their OOB experience.

  9. The GOAT #ExplainingComputers is back, and this time with a blast from the past - #Commodore.

This video is a trip for me, not because I used to use a Commodore - we had an Amiga at some point - but because of how they setup the #Mate desktop,

It's not just the wobbly windows though, or the exploding windows, or the #cyberpunk feel of it - but that it's your traditional "came in a DVD" #LinuxDistribution, all bells and whistles included... about 90GB+ of #software.

  10. I saw a video from #ExplainingComputers youtube video how #ReactOS has improved.

It is still buggy but surprisingly it works decently now than before.

Admittedly though I only tried on vmware and not on bare metal so it may end up similar to danooct1's reactos baremetal videos

  11. Fortunately, when I specified my dual-boot computer (Windows and Linux), I followed the advice on the excellent www.explainingcomputers.com website with Windows on one drive and Linux on a different one. As a result, I don't use "grub" to switch between Windows and Linux.

    Thank you, Christopher Barnatt!

  14. Really enjoyed the recent @LateNightLinux episode 267 where they interview Chris Barnatt from the outstanding #explainingcomputers Youtube channel around some of the unfortunate aspects of the #linux community, gatekeeping, and why being more pragmatic about our open source evangelism.

Big up to these folks in general. The Late Night Linux family are, the only Linux podcasts I listen to. Can't recommend them highly enough.

  15. Listening to the latest @LateNightLinux what a fantastic guest to have on! We've been a fan of for years 😁

  16. I’ll admit to being a layman, when it comes to #ai

But found this piece from #ExplainingComputers quite interesting.

  17. Everyone looking at #raspberrypi alternatives right now: There are a lot of interesting #SBC out there but many of them are documented really bad, have hardly any support and come with software/drivers in beta state. I recommend checking out @cnxsoft and the #ExplainingComputers YouTube channel if you want to learn more: youtube.com/@ExplainingCompute

  18. Oh, I've missed the video 📼 by Explaining Computers.
