"Residents learned of the project just nine days before a scheduled city council vote in mid-Feb. They moved fast. A video went viral; flyers spread across the #city, notably on the nearby campus of Rutgers University. More than 300 people showed up to proceedings held in a room with a seating capacity of barely 80. Before the matter was even opened for #public comment, the #citycouncil announced the #datacenter component was being stripped from te redevelopment plan"✊️ -
Get off the couch.
Check your registration. Show up. Bring someone with you.Vote every time. Volunteer once. Speak up when it matters.
You don’t need to do everything… just start.
Because the people who show up decide what happens next. -
I think after today, I'll be spending some portion of this week aggressively calling my representatives. If my reps are mostly Democrats, what would y'all recommend me demanding of them? I want specific asks, not just vague "do something!" statements to throw at them.
Help me out, #Fedi. Boost for reach!
If I get a lot of responses, I'll probably make a follow up call to action post tomorrow where I list some things you can ask your reps, as well as how to get ahold of them. #StandTogether

"Will it save the world? Who knows. Will it save us? Who knows. Does the work have to be done anyway? Yes. So we might as well pitch in, even if it’s just by giving more of our regular attention to people building alternatives to a collapsing system that is determined to break people and ecosystems alike."
