Nepal is demanding "climate justice" and $20 million in compensation after floods recently devastated a region of the country, leading to the deaths and disappearances of more than 6,000 people. The catastrophe, which scientists say was caused by the effects of climate change, was triggered when part of a mountain glacier collapsed on August 26 and a torrent of water and mud flooded Nepal's Rasuwa and Nuwakot regions.

Just finished reading "Holler: A Graphic Memoir of Rural Resistance" by Denali Sai Nalamalapu. An excellent graphic novel about resistance to the Mountain Valley Pipeline in Virginia and West Virginia. Although the pipeline is sadly operational today, resistance delayed it by more than twice the originally-planned timeline, and increased the cost tremendously. This kind of action increases cost and risk projections for pipelines all around the world and slows down capitalist extraction even where it can't stop it.
The book is lovely, drawn from interviews with 6 different activists and including a variety of perspectives on resistance, including an indigenous perspective. A gray thing to read if you're into #SolarPunk, #anarchism, or #ClimateJustice, or just curious. I've included a picture of a page talking about building towards future communities here.

The Greenland peninsula of Nunap Qeqqa has been a natural gem for millions of years; a stunning tundra landscape with a rich wildlife of Arctic foxes and wild muskoxen. As an internationally protected area, drilling was banned in 2021.
Yet a Trump-linked company is about to use an old licence to drill for oil – and they just offloaded equipment without official permission.
They aim to extract up to 1 trillion dollars worth of oil from this pristine land!
Greenlanders can hardly fight this on their own.
This petition is to try and help Prime Minister Nielsen make the right call: to protect Greenland and refuse to be bullied into oil drilling by a superpower.

"Since 1970, Indigenous people & their allies have gathered at noon on Cole's Hill in Plymouth to commemorate a National Day of Mourning on the US Thanksgiving holiday. Many Native people do not celebrate the arrival of the Pilgrims & other European settlers. Thanksgiving Day is a reminder of the genocide of millions of Native people, the theft of Native lands and the erasure of Native cultures. Participants in National Day of Mourning honor Indigenous ancestors and Native resilience. It is a day of remembrance and spiritual connection, as well as a protest against the racism and oppression that Indigenous people continue to experience worldwide."
