I have two advanced degrees in religion, and as an interfaith & diversity professional have spoken and published nationally and internationally.
I've had ideas simmering in my brain for awhile now about the intersection of spirituality and TTRPGs. So much possibility!
Mine isn't an easily labeled path, but I am a devotee of #Hekate and my most recent creation on itchio is actually a ritual I created for #Sahmain — a solo version of a Silent Supper.

I recall reading that after dropping acid and getting the feeling that he wasn’t in his body, #PeteTownshend went searching for something more. He became a follower of the teachings of Indian guru Meher Baba, sprinkling references in #TheWho's output and, with fellow-devotee chums, recording a couple of albums in his honor.
For Who Came First, regarded as his first solo release (get the cover pic pun?🥚), he took some tracks from those albums, tweaked some of his Lifehouse demos, and recorded some additional tracks. It’s all Pete except for a #RonnieLane track with Pete on guitar, and the Billy Nichols track where Pete doesn’t appear at all.
I love this album despite its demo-y feel (or maybe "because of,” in a pre-Scoop world?) because it's Pete; ironically I’m featuring its one Pete-free track, but it's a good one.

I’ve gotten a bit further in #chantsofsennaar, and now the cross-referencing feature is introduced. Even if you don’t exactly know what a word means, you can still identify it’s equivalent in an another language. That said, there are differences. For example, the people/devotees repeat a word for plurals, while the warriors use two different words. The lift/teleporter also allows you to serve as a translator for video calls, and an accurate translation will no doubt open something.

I am in love with this woman’s voice😍 I don’t understand a word, but that makes no difference. Her singing is ecstatic, devotional and resonates at a deep level. Her voice soars in this atmospheric Qawwali aria, accompanied by a fine-tuned orchestra. For an amateur devotee of #ethnomusicology, this unique virtuosity is a stunning find.
I say unique because Abi Sampa’s story is quite unusual. Born in Sri Lanka to Hindu Tamil parents (the oppressed minority in that country), her family emigrated to London where she was educated and went to dental school. A practicing dentist, she lives and records in England with her musical partner. They organized the #Qawwali Orchestra together. Sampa is a trained Carnatic singer who has been involved in traditional song for decades. #music #MusicVideo #song

"The Ice Hole, Maine," Marsden Hartley, 1908.
Artist, poet, and essayist Hartley (1877-1943) was a seminal figure in the development of modern art in America. A devotee of Transcendentalist philosophy, he viewed painting as a spiritual quest.
A native of Maine, he spent a lot of time in the village of Lovell, where he painted this and many other landscapes, which he viewed as his first mature works. He traveled to Europe in 1912 and began to experiment with Abstract and Cubist styles. He traveled about the world, but late in life became focused on depicting life in Maine...and then, in his 60s, painting a series of homoerotic portraits that are now seen as him affirming and admitting his sexuality.
But yeah, the title is just a tiny bit unfortunate, what with today's lingo. "You ICE HOLE!" we might shout at another driver...
