  2. Mark Frechette

In 1970 Mark Frechette was discovered by a casting director while in the middle of a shouting match at a Charles Street bus-stop in Boston. "He's 20 and he hates", she told director Michelangelo Antonioni. The director immediately cast Frechette for his counterculture film Zabrinskie Point

Despite the film being a flop Frechette + co-star Daria Halprin became symbols of the disillusioned youth of America, appearing on the covers of Look + Rolling Stone + appearing on talk shows.

In 1973, Frechette + 2 members of Lyman's Fort Hill Commune in Roxbury attempted to rob the New England Merchant's Bank. One of the trio was killed by police while the other 2 were arrested. Frechette was sentenced to 6 to 15 years in prison where he died in 1975 in a weightlifting accident after a 150-pound barbell fell on his neck + he suttocated. He was 27.

  6. From Gold Rush to Green Rush
The environmental consequences of cannabis cultivation

    * "Professor Kaitlin Reed (Yurok/Hupa/Oneida) argues that the state's booming cannabis industry can be situated squarely within other extractive settler colonial enterprises such as gold mining and overfishing."

“The real gold is not gold, after all, but the land itself”

Kaitlin P. Reed, "Settler Cannabis: From Gold Rush to Green Rush in Indigenous Northern California" (U Washington Press, 2023) >>

    * Reed "connects California cannabis production to the violence and dispossession of Indigenous land and people."

"Young countercultural back-to-the-land settlers flocked to northwestern California beginning in the 1960s, and by the 1970s, unregulated cannabis production proliferated on Indigenous lands."

  12. Dear Friends off USA,

What can we do if an allied cuntry?

    1) Vote for #alternatives
    2) Implement alternatives
    3) Write to the #indigenous 'authorities'

In other words create a a group of #counterculture people ready, willing and #enabled/#empowered.

    For example:

    a) I live in a safe Labour (Kier Star-murmer) seat. Will be voting #Wandsworth #Greens.
    b) Have written (to be redirected) to Number 10 (non digital)
    c) #America is not my problem? Oh it is. Oh and how! Fight for better rites. Or remain #outside them

    🏴 :nonazis: :agummyhug:

Oh and pig-tech is funded by compliance not Private bit-bat-con-coin hedge finding or funding. Just so you #know.

"The real heroes of the #creative #world will be forced into operating as a #resistance #movement

The actual #artists will now form a #counterculture

The only sustaining #work will come from the #indie world, not the established order.

Those who care about #culture absolutely must support this #alt #rebellion and indie vibe."
