A little while ago, I rescued an old #laptop from becoming #ewaste. The keyboard is a little wonky, but it is more for consuming than typing so that is ok. I am running #Ubuntu #MATE #2404, and it is solid and fast enough. #Snaps are nice because I can split tunnel them with #PIA #VPN and cannot with #Flatpacks but, if you know how, please let me know. Two apps I have been enjoying of late on this machine are #Kasts for #podcasts and #FreeTube for ad free YouTube.

Gpodder.net used to reliably offer you the ability to synch open source podcasting apps like #Gpodder, #Antennapod, and #Kasts. Is federated podcast synching possible? It does not need a large amount of storage space, and I don't think any identifying information can be gleaned from that metadata.
So anyway, is federated podcast synching possible and how server intensive would it be? #fediverse

President José María #Balcázar this week questioned Chilean President José Antonio Kast’s decision to erect a deep ditch along Peru’s southern frontier to deter future immigration, likening the erection of such barriers to that of the Berlin wall. He is reported as saying that it was Chile’s decision but he urged the need for care in “returning to the times when the Berlin wall was constructed”.

I think I'm right in saying that how president elect José Antonio Kast faces, or tries to bury, the atrocities of the Pinochet past will signal his intentions for the future:
Of course, the USA and Henry Kissinger in particular helped pave the way for Pinochet's coup, but Brits should also remember....

🚀 Chciałem Wam zwrócić uwagę na fajną aplikację Nextcloud - RePod - do podkastów 🎙️
Jeśli korzystacie z AntennaPod, to do synchronizacji możecie używać Nextcloudowego GPodderSync.
RePod też z niego korzysta, umożliwia subskrybowanie kanałów przez szukajkę, podanie linka do RSS, oraz oczywiście słuchanie.
Fajna opcja to eksport i import list podkastów przez pliki OPML.Więc potrafi trochę więcej niż wcześniejszy NextPod.
Obecnie mam w browserze i chmurze RePod z GPodderSync, na telefonie AntennaPod, a na desktopie Kasts od KDE.
Fajny zestaw :)
🇵🇱 P.S. Od następnej aktualizacji będzie miała spolszczenie, bo przygotowałem 😉

Had a great first #OpenPodcastAPI meeting yesterday. Initial focus: allowing users to sync their subscriptions & listening activity between podcatchers, webapps & sync servers.
Many thanks to the folks from @AntennaPod, @funkwhale, @kasts and @martin from Podfriend and @JonOfUs from the gPodder Nextcloud app.

@elmussol @AntennaPod No real need to switch if you like #AntennaPod since you can sync between both clients through #GPodderSync . Either through #GPodderNet or selfhosted #GPodderNextcloud .
There's enough room for more than one open source client. :-) -

"Kast’s victory proves that “managing neoliberalism” is a failed strategy for the left, as it only fuels Pinochetismo, which the centre-left accommodated for decades. The left, with the Communist Party at its core, now faces the challenge of organising mass resistance against Kast’s agenda of fiscal austerity, mass expulsion of immigrants and a full neoliberal restoration that will erase even the timid Concertacion progressive reforms of 1990-2025.
Chile’s communists, as the most consistently anti-neoliberal force within the broader left, have the potential to shape and organise a broad political and social front of resistance against Kast’s extreme right-wing government. Resistance against Kast will be inextricably linked to the struggle against neoliberalism. A critical weakness in Chile remains the lack of an authoritative left leadership capable of successfully organising the working class to fulfil Boric’s own promise: “If Chile was the birthplace of neoliberalism, it will also be its grave.”"
