  1. @martijnbraam @pavel @bart Hello, this is great, but where can I download this version: megapixels-2.0.0-1-aarch64.pkg.tar.zst? Thanks in advance, Pierre.

  2. on the @pine64 , and are all updated to kernel 7.0, and improved USB config. Just zypper ref/dup.

  3. Linux smartphone users, what phone and OS do you prefer and why?

I'm in the process of learning about Linux OS on smartphones with the goal of eventually using a Linux phone as my daily driver.

What features are most important to you?
What do you mostly do with your phone other than call/text?
    What about mobile banking?? >_>
Which phone do you feel pairs best with Linux?

Screen reader users: I am so sorry for what you're about to experience...

  4. @pine64 update: sent wifi, bluetooth, and modem patch upstream

    lore.kernel.org/all/20260112-p

at this point if you would like to test it, please reply to the patches with a Tested-by: Name <email> as shown in this link

    kernel.org/doc/html/v5.7/proce

i think i will get battery/charger next and then switch the pmOS kernel to use mainline Linux. if u would like a feature of the ppp to be included, please let me know and be available to test my changes

  5. is anyone able to test the modem patch for the ?

i dont have a sim card for the device as its unfortunately not my daily driver. will give u pmbootstrap commands and the kernel tree so u can build it locally to test. can also field any questions if u have any

bonus: u can get credit in the linux kernel for testing the patch too! would need name and email for that

i think ill also try to get wifi and bluetooth working too. phosh seems to recognize the modem with my patch

  6. Thought I'd give a quick glance of the #Pine64 blog to see what's been going on. Pleasantly surprised to read this:
    pine64.org/2025/08/16/august_2
"We admit that both PineStore and Pine64 have dropped the ball and it has been very difficult to restart and recover after everything that has happened in the past."

Okay, so I guess I still have some hope for them. :moomin_hmm:
I actually welcome the discontinuation of #PinePhonePro, it's better if devs just focus on one affordable platform. And yeah, maybe not launching a bunch of new products when the existing ones still need more testing and/or have known defects would have helped. But I'm not buying anything new from them until I can be sure that their priorities are right. Right now I'm happier just not having any smartphone at all and will probably buy a cheap dumb soldering iron to replace/repair my #Pinecil that no longer works with USB-C.

  7. Ich sichere mal mein #PostmarketOS vom #PinePhonePro weg, um mir #Mobian noch mal anzusehen. Leider habe ich keine freien, funktionierenden SD-Karten mehr übrig :neocat_googly_shocked:

  8. Lilbits: Phosh 0.50.0, unofficial Windows Subsystem for FreeBSD, and Google Japan’s impractical keyboards

Some folks at Google Japan have a habit of designing impractical keyboards. A few years ago we saw a single-row keyboard with every letter, number and character laid out along a 5.4 foot strip. There are also Teacup, bubble wrap, and spoon bending keyboards, among others.

Now the company has introduced its latest horribly inconvenient keyboard: the Gboard Dial Version is made of rotary dials […]

  9. I know it's not a great Linux phone, but I am sad to learn that the Pinephone Pro has been discontinued. It was a worth successor to the original Pinephone, but seemed to not be popular enough to gain more support. I'm still using mine with the Samsung battery pack, and can usually get through a day with it. Hopefully @pine64 comes up with a follow up phone.

  10. CW: ppp upstreaming

as 6.17 is about to be released, i created a pr to update the ppp kernel from 6.13 to 6.17: gitlab.postmarketos.org/postma

please test using wiki.postmarketos.org/wiki/Mrt if u are using the on

the kernel is rc-5 (meaning in development). will update the pr to 6.17 proper once megi updates it

i switched this to the megi kernel as megi has been consistently keeping it updated. seems like the pine64 branch in gitlab is dead

  11. @moonlight_seashell Really a shame, this full Linux smartphone works very well. I use it every day under Manjaro with Phosh and the rare non-Linux applications I run under Waydroid...

  12. 🌲📱Pine64 has decided to pull the plug on their "revolutionary" GNU/Linux smartphone, the PinePhone Pro. Apparently, they finally realized that only three people wanted a phone that runs like a 1995 desktop computer. 😅 Meanwhile, #Mastodon users are still trying to figure out how to enable #JavaScript without consulting a 30-page manual. 🤦‍♂️
