Wegen Kampf mit meinem Aufnahmeequiment letztes Wochenende hab ich noch nix zum Jolla Phone zu bieten.
Ich will halt authentisch dokumentieren, wie jemand mit meinem Wissen damit klar kommt.

Das Equipment steht jetzt. Vielleicht schaff ich es noch Sonntag, wenn wir vom 3 Tage Kommissariatsausflug zurück sind und ich dann nicht fix und fertig bin🥴

Für meine begrenzte Executiv Energie ist eine Aufgabe stets viele Aufgaben und schnell zu viel😵.

@FediFollows Please also add @furilabs it's the most usable option for nontechy people right now.

@mechasystems also has the Comet which would be a #Linuxphone with their LTE module.

@dawndrums and @Liberux are also upcoming projects great to follow - the former has already showcased a working early prototype on their YT channel.

And also @purism who have 2 phones and initially put in so much work in developing phosh, chatty (GNOME Chats) and the phone Calls app as well as underlying stuff to make desktop apps responsive. I'm daily driving a #Librem5 btw and quite comfortably too coming from a #degoogled Android ecosystem.

yes, technically android uses the linux kernel and runs on mobile devices, but that doesnt give grapheneos a right to come to #mobilelinux (pine64, postmarketos) party and ask to be treaned as equal. android ecosystem is it's own thing, and mobile linux projects are a completely different thing. theyre not "systemd mobile" either as some do not use systemd there. there is a substantial difference between mobile linux distros and android roms, and i can't imagine what kind of bully you need to be to claim that your android rom has a right to stand in the same row as #linux distros

Two of them did claim to require a duopoly app so I walked in to a branch, said I have a #Linuxphone and will need to take my money elsewhere if they dont allow me to login using Firefox on my Linux phone or Linux PC. One of them simply clicked something on their workstation and said 'Oh sure you can log in on the browser now,' and the other bank sent me a physical token.

Seems one of the few apps i cant get reliably working on the Android is The Trainline app.. It wont login using google creds.

Ordered a 4G payg sim for yhe phone so.i can dual carry for a while

Other thsn that ive taken it as an opportunity to only put the core apps i need and debloat.

I'm either very bad at `pacman` or there's very little packaged for Arch on ARM. I'm betting it's the first one, but it could be both.

I do know I'm well into the "submit a fix if I want a fix" corner of open source early adotpion, haha.

I may try to build some apps I want on my Pi and see what happens when I copy them onto my PinePhone. I am pretty good to at getting things to work from source code, on ARM.

But I guess I probably need to get a better handle on `pacman` first, to make sure I'm not duplicating someone else's efforts.

I'm just relieved that basic tasks like switching windows, changing settings, and opening a terminal are snappy with Arch Linux, on my PinePhone64 (with the default settings).

The Manjero Linux configuration that it shipped with had multi-second delays for most actions, ad was effectively unusable.

I will provide further updates here as I try more things.

I dislike Android and Samsung only makes it tolerable. At least the version I'm on. I don't know what I'm going to do when I decide to move to a new phone. Hopefully Linux on phones is far enough along for my needs and pmOS Duranium is stable enough by that point. Not going to get a newer iPhone because they're all gesture-based now and I prefer the surety of a button press.
